Ravi Shankar has had a long and productive career, and his reputation in Indian classical music goes without saying. The Teacher is a nice compilation, taken from EMI India sources. It presents various ragas in different forms. There are a couple full ragas, complete with alap; there is a dhun, which is a light classical treatment; and there even is a piece done with the time constraints of a 78 in mind, forcing Shankar to distill the essence of the raga into quite a short performance by Indian classical standards. The variation in the pieces makes The Teacher a good candidate for anyone wanting an introduction to Ravi Shankar or Indian classical music in general. ~ Sean Westergaard
Ravi is probably the most successful Indian musician in modern times. More than most, he is the architect of Indian classical music's entry into the mainstream of international art music. Ravi Shankar Teacher Songs | 1. | Raga Jhinjhoti |

Audio Remixers: Jesse McReynolds; Billy Troy. Recording information: Sound Stage Studio, Nashville, TN. Photographer: Ken Kim. Unknown Contributor Role: Billy Troy. Jim & Jesse might be bluegrass's most famous act next to Bill Monroe, and they certainly have the catalog to back up the claim. While THE JIM & JESSE STORY is a fantastic collection, the set does not include the duo's original performances--all of the songs are re-recordings of their most famous hits from sessions in the early '90s with former members of the Virginia Boys. Despite this, Jim & Jesse have never made a sub par recording and these performances have the duo's heavenly harmonies and stellar picking aplenty. This 2007 ...

$13.55 Renaissance: Jon Camp (vocals, acoustic guitar, bass instrument); Michael Dunford (vocals, acoustic guitar); Annie Haslam (vocals); John Tout (keyboards); Terence Sullivan (drums, percussion). Personnel: Terence Sullivan (drums, percussion). Recording information: Tower Theatre, Philadelphia, PA (1978). Editor: Denny Bridges. Photographer: Annie Haslam. There are several very distinct periods of Renaissance history -- of which the most exciting may well be the time surrounding their best album, A Song for All Seasons, It is the album -- along with Azure d'Or and Novella -- that almost broke them as pop stars and was filled with some of the most interesting (in their prog rock roots) songs they had yet written. This live album is from the tour accompanying the Song for All Seasons tour -- and, as such, it could be argued that it is Renaissance at the peak of their powers. Even more so than Live at Carnegie Hall or the welcomed reunion concert, In ...
