(4 Customer Reviews)
The FEAST ON SCRAPS DVD included in this package features a live show from Alanis Morissette's European tour, studio footage and various behind-the- scenes clips as well as 8 previously unreleased tracks recorded during the UNDER RUG SWEPT sessions.
Fresh from her "Toward Our Union Mended" 2002 world tour, Alanis Morissette hit the studio to pull together FEAST ON SCRAPS, a double CD/DVD featuring eight unreleased audio tracks from her last studio outing UNDER RUG SWEPT and a full concert from Rotterdam on the DVD. A master of looking inward and emerging with musical manna, Morissette does not disappoint as she dips into feelings of undeserved success (the subtly tumultuous "Fear Of Bliss"), guilt over this dissatisfaction (a gently lilting "Offer"), and a heavy dose of fame-fueled ennui (the Middle Eastern-flavored "Purgatorying"). Other highlights include the harder-edged "Sister Blister," touching break-up ballad "Simple Together," and a gorgeous solo acoustic reading of her hit "Hands Clean." The accompanying DVD further enhances this already stellar package with the aforementioned live show packed with Morissette favorites "Ironic," "You Oughta Know," and "Hand In My Pocket" along with behind-the-scenes footage from the UNDER RUG SWEPT sessions, rare home videos, and live footage from other cities on the 2002 tour. FEAST ON SCRAPS is far from skimpy, and on the contrary, turns out to be a fine audio/visual meal.

A great collectors item If you're a fan, you must have this Alanis item. The CD is great with the b-sides from Under Rug Swept, but it's the DVD that stands out. Submitted by Sette (New York, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Morissette has grown tiresome Alanis Morissette used to be an exciting artist with fresh things to sing about. Now, unfortunately, she's grown tiresome with her continuous rants about men and how sad she is she's rich (like on the pathetically indulgent "Offer"). I know Alanis is 29 now and isn't the same person she was in 1995, but I still expect her to come up with fresh music and different things to talk about. Scraps worth feasting on The Unprodigal Daughter is back.. and so soon too. Miss Morissette, former queen of angst and future queen of resolved-ness does it again. This "Extended-Play of Sorts" of Under Rug Swept is all but scraps. These were the left-over songs from the Under Rug Swept Sessions that Alanis decided she had to share. And good thing she did too, "Fear of Bliss" is just short of a female Linkin Park, while "Sister Blister" takes us back to some of that angst. However, this is certainly not a "Jagged Little Pill II" - The music is different and if you're a true fan you know that. Songs such as "Sorry 2 Myself" and "Offer" may have never been written in the Jagged era. Alanis scrapes on relationships ("Simple Together") and the harbingers of hell ("Purgatorying"). The first single, "Bent For You" is probably the catchiest on the CD and where she gets the title from. And, as the Feast cover shows us, Alanis has evolved into a beautiful butterfly. $12.19 In the four years following the release of 1998's SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE, Alanis Morissette went far afield from music, dabbling in film (DOGMA), TV (SEX & THE CITY) and stage (THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES). Her return to the studio found the older and wiser former child star hooking up with her old ...

Feast On Scraps music CDs
$23.29 Recorded between 1969 & 1979. Includes liner notes by Sam Graham and Josef Woodard.
Some of Larry Coryell's admirers have exalted him as the man who single-handedly invented fusion guitar. While that claim is a bit of an overstatement -- there were other jazz guitarists who were influenced by rock in the 1960s, including Pat Martino -- there's no doubt that he was a major innovator and played an indispensable role in the fusion revolution of the late 1960s and 1970s. Nor is there any question that everyone from John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, and Bill Connors to Scott Henderson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield is creatively indebted to him. A two-CD anthology that spans 1969-1979, Improvisations: The Best of the Vanguard Years is full of trailblazing gems that were as important to jazz-rock as the breakthroughs of Miles Davis, Return to Forever, Weather Report, and McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra. Improvisations kicks into high gear with seven selections ...
