When Mudvayne's major-label debut appeared, many critics either lumped the band into the same rap-metal bag as Korn and Limp Bizkit, or merely dismissed the combo as a Slipknot rip-off. On THE END OF ALL THINGS TO COME, the group transcends the comparisons and wacky makeup to deliver a ferocious slab of the hard stuff that, for once, truly deserves to be termed "alternative." Equal parts Morbid Angel, Rush, and Shudder To Think, the disc highlights Mudvayne's ability to temper nu-metal's characteristic machine-gun riffing and throat-shredding vocals with a variety of quirky textural shifts and (gasp!) melodic vocalizing. Lyrically, the group mines the same nihilist/anarchistic territory popularized by Metallica and scores of '80s hardcore punk groups. Luckily, however, Mudvayne avoids the I-wanna-blow-up-the-world-'cause-my-mom -told-me-to-take-out-the-trash syndrome and manages to come up with several interesting and genuinely chilling variations on the theme.

| | 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Kiss Vol. 2 CD (2004)
The End of All Things to Come CD music
$7.05 The majority of Kiss hits collections to surface since the late '90s (and boy, have there been a truckload of them) have focused primarily on the group's makeup years, which is understandable since that's when the dudes smeared the grease paint back on. But for the most part, their unmasked years have been glossed over on subsequent hits collections (or included in small quantities). 2004's 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Kiss, Vol. 2 is the first Kiss collection ever to primarily focus on their non-makeup era, covering the years 1982 through 1990. While this certainly wasn't Kiss' finest era -- neither commercially (with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley the only original members left by this point, Kiss saw their fan base dwindle considerably ...

This recording had it's early beginnings in a hotel room in parisover two years ago. i was on tour and somehow wrangled a digital pianoto be rented and delivered to my room. i spent the next three daysplaying whatever came to mind and drinking red wine, quite peaceful andopen to the vibe of my surroundings. by the second day a compositionemerged seemingly of it's own volition. it was 'romance #1', the piecewhich opens this recording. it was named in just such a manner fromit's inception as i felt it embodied my sentimental impressions ofthose rainy parisian days and also because i instinctively felt therewould be more compositions to follow in the footsteps of this piece. flash forward to summer 2005. i had been harboring an idea for apiano recording project for several months. i had what i felt were anice handful of compositions that embodied a particular esthetic whichi wanted to pour into a collective work. i was unsure of how to bringit all to fruition or even if my ideas would be cogent once puttogether in reality. luckily for me i ran into ethan johns at just theright time. my friend and wonderful singer/songwriter juliana raye had beenaffiliated with ethan for quite sometime. after i had bumped into herat a show in hollywood she asked if i would come to ethan's studio andplay on some of her new songs, an offer to which i readily agreed. itwas during this session that i initiated a creative relationship withethan and fell in love with his piano. the instrument was a bluthner grand from the early 1900's. as soon asi played it i knew i had to record some of my own music using it as amedium. i approached ethan with the idea and we intially decided toswap my services as a session musican for recording ...
