Compared to Joëlle Léandre's previous disc for Leo Records, another trio session titled Out of Sound and released only a couple of months earlier, The Chicken Check in Complex is much more expansive. No recording date is provided, but the general feel of the music, free improv eschewing both post-Machine Gun rants and fin de siècle reductionism, puts this album close to the debut CD by the quartet Madly You (Léandre, Carlos Zingaro, Daunik Lazro, and Paul Lovens). Léandre, Zingaro, and Sebi Tramontana have been playing together in many formations. They know each other well and this ease can be detected at every twist and turn of the music. The violinist is the wild card here; he fuses into the bassist's lines, mimics the trombonist's wails, or sticks to his own voice, therefore propelling each piece in a different direction. The music has been broken into short pieces ranging from two to eight minutes; some editing is obvious for a couple of tracks, but it is hard to tell if the other ones were performed "as is" or were part of a longer improvisation. In the end it will matter only to purists. The short durations allow for frequent resets and give a sense of cohesion to the group, since the pieces don't take forever to start or end. Tramontana shines in his playful solo "Adesso Voglio Fare," in which he comes very close to Joost Buis' signature sound during his days with Palinckx. Other highlights include "Game Strategy" and "Unique," but the whole album stays at a satisfactory level. Fans of Léandre will definitely be pleased by this release, which is much warmer than E'Vero, her set of duets with Tramontana. ~ François Couture

Chicken Check In Complex music CDs
$8.99 Evoking Dick Cheney and Mark Twain in the title and artwork of your album screams high concept, and it's not like Joan of Arc hasn't shunned that kind of indulgence before. (It also elicits humorous notions of the fogyish Cheney settling down in his parlor to give a challenging experimental rock album a good, solid listen. Very Norman Rockwell, no?) But Tim Kinsella and friends have already done the concept angle -- done it to death, as the insular spiky changing rooms of The Gap proved. So where does that leave Joan of Arc, Dick Cheney, Mark Twain? Well, it's an album in love with distinct verbosity, for one. Every song title is an artful arrangement in both text and sound -- "Queasy Lynn," "I Trust a Litter of Kittens Still Keeps the Colosseum." And unlike what passes for concept albums these days (we're looking at you, Coheed & Cambria), Kinsella, Sam Zurick, Nate Kinsella, Bobby Burg, and their host of horn- and keys-playing, voice-lending pals have designed ...

Chicken Check In Complex CD music
$13.29 Alfred and Sharon SampsonMinisters of the word The purpose of this CD is to minister into the lives of people with the word of God; to re-establish individuals back into the community with a purpose in life. With the help of God our vision is to put together a ministry to encourage and enable people to depend on God for all their needs. I myself was homeless for a little over ten years so I know what it was like to feel helpless and hopeless. God will provide for us all: this I know. The vision that God gave me not knowing anything about music but through faith God brought my studio into existence. I stayed in the studio 18 hours a day for eleven months and God through His spirit taught me everything. People who heard my music want to know what school I graduated from as far as mixing, mastering and writing. Through fasting, praying and believing, His spirit was manifested before my eyes and in my hands which is the glory of God the manifestation of His power. I know without a shadow of a doubt that God brought this into existence. We have an established recording company, Sampson & Sampson Gospel record label, a live internet series featuring bible study, and various events as well as an on-line ...

Chicken Check In Complex music CDs
$13.15 OneToThe4thPower begins in Hawaii. Randy, Gregg, and Byl have a dream to share their music with the world. They start performing in magical places like the Chinese Cemetery in Manoa, and on a water tower up on Tantalus, a mountain overlooking the city of Honolulu. The three friends travel to California, near Los Angeles, where they meet Lane, also a songwriter, a guitarist, and vocalist and their blend in music and friendship is perfect. They play music for many years, meet many interesting people and travel to many places all over the United States. Although the band members go their separate ways, their love for the music they play and the dream of sharing this music with the world never dies. And so, they reunite in 2004. With Byl, Gregg and Randy living on different islands in Hawaii, and Lane living on Lopez Island in Washington State, they decide to share their musical parts with each other, and rehearse “on-lineâ€. After weeks of rehearsal they all meet and begin recording their “Like A Dream†CD in a greenhouse on property owned by Byl’s wife Burni’s family, where Byl and his son Abe operate a plant nursery. They finish their “Like A Dream†CD on Maui at JML Productions. Now, 4 years later, after again sharing their music and rehearsing “on-line†together, they meet on Maui to record their 2nd CD, “New Beginningsâ€. This new CD of 12 original songs embraces the theme that we all create new beginnings everyday in each of our lives. The opening song, “Drifting†speaks of the timelessness all musicians’ ...
