CODE BLUE is a 15-track digitally remastered release by U.K. synth rockers Icehouse, including "Mercy On The Boy" and "Where The River Meets The Sea."
As David Lord was unfortunately unavailable, Code Blue was instead produced by Nick Launay (Midnight Oil, INXS, Living End), who had at the time worked with Jenny Morris and David Byrne. This and the badly timed Great Southern Land compilation may well have been the nail in the coffin. The year 1990 proved to be a difficult time for rock bands, as the dance movement which ultimately became modern pop pulled the rug from under Icehouse, INXS, and U2 -- though the latter groups were quick to move in the remixers. The departure of Robert Kretschmer meant Davies had to get used to lead guitar and writing again. There are many reasons why Code Blue wasn't the album fans envisaged. Code Blue lent heavily toward Pink Floyd ("Wind & Sail," "Charlie's Sky") and the kind of music heard on Baywatch ("Harbour Town," "River Meets the Sea"). Some interesting studio wizardry couldn't halt a major disappointment save Miss Divine and Jericho Bay. ~ Kelvin Hayes
2002 remastered reissue of the Aussie alternative act's 1990 album, that's unavailable domestically, includes three bonus tracks, 'Big Fun' (The Riddler Mix), 'Miss Divine' (Spellbound Mix) & 'Where The River Meets The Sea' ( Original Demo). WSM.

| Code Blue Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A highly underrated album Icehouse's last few albums were released to little fanfare and media attention compared to their eighties masterpieces, but this album is still a must have for any Icehouse fan. The band (Iva Davies primarily) moves away from the synthpop sound that was so prominent in the eighties to a more rock oriented album reminiscent of Aussie Pub Rock in many ways. That's not to say this a Cold Chisel sounding record, there are still a number of experimental tracks, ranging from the dreamlike "Wind and Sail" to the almost industrial sounding "Big Fun". There is an atmosphere to this record that holds it together better than most other Icehouse records, with the only weak track being the overly repetitive "Anything is Possible", but apart from that, the album is very solid. The bonus tracks are a bit hit and miss as well, but are not terrible by any means. If you are an Iva Davies fan, this album will not disappoint. Another solid Icehouse album Not being from Australia (thereby unexposed to advertising), I bought this CD on the strength of commercial Harbour Town, the powerful delivery of The Great Divide, and the wry Big Fun. Not as satisfying as the 80's stuff but a welcome return to form. Submitted by ldolphin34 (Sheridan, WY via Tacoma, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Code Blue album
$7.29 Depeche Mode's U.S. breakthrough album, 1984's SOME GREAT REWARD, expanded the U.K. synth band's American following from a small cult of Anglophiles to the same sort of teenage adulation that the Cure had started attracting around the same time. Featuring the Top 20 U.S. hit "People Are People," along with cult ...

$16.65 "ICEHOUSE", "SIDEWALK", "WARNER BROTHERS", "CD", "ROCK" This remastered edition includes four bonus tracks from the Iva Davies-led Austrailian experimental rock band.
Sidewalk is Icehouse's least-effective album, mainly because of a stagnant array of narrowly synthesized pop songs which lack the warmth, melody, or perkiness that can be found in later efforts. The hooks are few and far between, and while their sultry keyboard recipe falls into the same category as that of the Human League, Ultravox, or Visage, Sidewalk fails to exemplify the same synth pop froth or colorfulness that ...
| | Icehouse Primitive Man CD (1982) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Code Blue album
$16.29 Long before they had pop hits in the late-1980s, Aussie Iva Davies and his outfit Icehouse started off as a moody rock band influenced by the glam of the 1970s. 1982's PRIMITIVE MAN, the act's second release painted an aural landscape of artful music.
As an oboe/guitar player involved in electro popular music, it's no surprise Iva Davies took to Roxy Music, especially on "Street Café" and the mega-hit "Hey Little Girl," which duly landed in no less than 13 European Top Ten singles charts, going all the way in Switzerland. An album of atmospheres, "Great Southern Land" evokes images of Australia's arid interior, while "Trojan Blue" conjures up medieval Italy or France. "Mysterious Thing" continues Primitive Man's mood, and produces what may be the best line in ambient white funk recorded! Running orders for the album ...
