 Buddy Rides Again
This is a prefect sampler of Buddy Rich's live-in-concert talents and continued focus as a drum pioneer and still relevent (back thirty years ago in 1973) musical force. Metronomic timing and monstrous technique, coupled with unmatchable speed are all in evidence from Rich on the "Rich At The Tp" DVD. The band was on the mark but not entirely original or inspired. But knowing the legacy of Rich as a band leader this may be by his design rather than lack of the band's creativity or personal drive. The special features are outstanding.

 Buddy Rich a great DVD to revisit THE BAND
Buddy Rich without a doubt will always be remembered by the people who saw him as the one who could do it all on the drumset. What I remember by revisiting this edition of Buddy's band is how great his band sounded live. Everytime one was fortunate enough to be in the same town and to see the Rich Band in that period got the best live band to be found on the planet at the time. The youth led by the Master Drummer during that period playing difficult contemporary Big Band Charts was awesome. Mr. Rich during that period was at his peak and his use of a Phibes Snare drum during that period let him stretch a bit and project his fantastic technique on this recording. He could play anything(He would be the first to tell you)anyway. The more recordings released by him and this band the better. They have been too long in coming.
