Often lumped unfairly into the same pop-punk bag as Green Day, and sometimes even dismissed as nothing more than A Blink-182 rip-off, Sum 41 definitively separates itself from the pack with DOES THIS LOOK INFECTED?. Sporting a level of sheer musicianship that dwarfs that of the aforementioned groups, the band powers through all 12 tracks with a machine-like efficiency and a thrash metalesque knack for rhythmic precision and complexity. In fact, there are instrumental passages here that could easily pass for MASTER OF PUPPETS-era Metallica or even vintage Anthrax.
To be sure, there are the usual heaping helpings of catchy melodies and Descendents-approved high harmonies throughout, but DOES THIS LOOK INFECTED? reveals an increased emphasis on the punk half of the punk-pop equation. Echoes of pioneering hardcore/metal hybrid bands like Killing Time, Leeway, and Bad Brains abound, and the record consequently has a tougher, more substantial feel than any of Sum 41's previous efforts.

Rolling Stone (12/12/02, p.93) - "...there's an increased emphasis on metal....these songs aren't as slap-happy as they first seem..." Entertainment Weekly (11/29/02, pp.101-2) - "...Sum 41 more than hold their own against the current competition....There's an underlying metallic vibe here with lots of meaty riffs and galloping tempos, touches of hardcore, an even a bit of rapping..." - Rating: B- Q (01/03, p.113) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...Sleek, pummelling anthems of teenage joy and confusion..." The first time I heard sum 41 I was like 10 the first song I heard was "makes no difference" and I though wow this band is great then the next year I heard "fat lip" and "in too deep" and I loved them so I bought the c.d All Killer No filler and that c.d is awesome!!!! and then when does this look infected came out I went and got that and that c.d is amazing! I love it so much I could listen to it all day! I especially like the songs "Hyper-Insomnia-Para-Condrioid", "my direction" and "thanks for nothing" the other songs on it are great too but those are my fav! I have bought the c.d Chuck too and it is really great kind of different from does this look infected and not as good because that one is my fav and it sooo great but Chuck is awesome too! and the lyrics to the songs are sweet! If you don't have the c.d does this look infected and you like punk rock kinda stuff or are a fan of sum 41! I advise you to get it! like right now! go! :D Submitted by Kayla (Ontario, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Awesome Album! I heard 'The Hell Song' on Big Shiny Tunes 8 and immediately wanted a Sum 41 album. I got their newest album, 'Chuck'. I loved that CD. Then a few months later, I got this CD. It is every bit as awesome as 'Chuck' is. If you're a Sum 41 fan, this is a must own! Submitted by Made of Lego (Canada, Dude!) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The best of sum 41!!! This cd sounds much like Linkin Park but faster, if you are a LP fan you will love this. Its only one thing I hate with this album, the song: My direction is taken from rancids:Let me go it sounds the same.
"All tracks written by Sum 41" is a lie, rancids version is much better! Submitted by The-best-offspring (Lilla Edet,Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

This young pop-punk quartet might seem to be following in the steps of such bands as Blink 182, but they bring something of their own to the table on ALL KILLER NO FILLER. Though much of this album is occupied by bratty, post-Green Day melodic punk with the occasional, reverential nod to old-school punk rock ("Nothing on My Back"), Sum 41 ...

Does This Look Infected?
$8.65 Contains an untitled hidden track following "Amber Changing".
With clenched fists in the air, boots to the floor, and anger swelling in their chests, the members of Rise Against return with their second album, Revolutions Per Minute. It's a two-pronged attack. From the north blows the fury of their hearts, swept up as they are in their passion for a girl who is "Like the Angel," but love that strong almost inevitably eventually engenders the opposite emotions -- and so it is with Rise. And even as they beg on "Amber Changing" to pretend that tonight will never end, the relationship sours, and even their "Last Chance Blueprint fails to change the emotional landscape, leaving nothing but hatred it its wake, reaching a paroxysm of viciousness on "To the Core," a ferocious, fever-pitched number written and delivered with pure vitriol. If that's the bitter northern wind, bringing with it blizzards of wintry emotions warmed only by the heat of anger boiling ...

Does This Look Infected?
$20.39 Album cuts, singles, and rarities, make up this two-disc retrospective of the psychedelic years of England's Status Quo. Tracks include a cover of Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and their hit "Pictures of Matchstick Men."
This double-CD set delivers a lot more than its title promises, containing not only all of Status Quo's 1960s vintage recordings -- all of the singles and B-sides, the mono album Picturesque Matchstickable Messages From... and the stereo mix of their second album, Spare Parts, plus odd singles and rarities (including a stereo mix of "Pictures of Matchstick Men,") but every side left behind by the pre-Status Quo Spectres and their reincarnation as Traffic Jam. Those sides make for a killer opening to disc one here, encompassing "Hurdy Gurdy Man" (not the Donovan song), "Laticia," "(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet," their pre-psychedelic debut, "I (Who Have Nothing)," and their organ-driven rendition of "Walking With My Angel." All of their work serves as a more than suitable prelude to the more familiar Status Quo material, ...
