Olympia Records is proud to announce the CD release of "Underwater Land", a collection of 17 children’s songs, written and produced by the legendary Shel Silverstein and sung by his longtime friend and collaborator Pat Dailey. Already a Parent's Choice Foundation Gold Award winner, "Underwater Land" is "Marvelous!" (Disney's Family Fun magazine), "Simply Hilarious!" (Parent's Chioce) and "Bound to be a Classic!" (BestChildrensMusic.com). The CD features performances by Shel himself on several tracks, and the beautiful 32-page booklet boasts all the lyrics and many previously unpublished Silverstein drawings. Shel Silverstein (1930-1999), the renowned poet, illustrator, screenwriter, and songwriter, is best known for his immensely popular children’s books including The Giving Tree, Falling Up, and A Light in the Attic, which have entertained a worldwide audience and amassed sales in the tens of millions. A celebrated recording artist, Silverstein won the 1984 Grammy Award for Best Children’s Recording for his performance of Where the Sidewalk Ends. Singer/songwriter Pat Dailey has released 13 acclaimed albums, and is a wintertime staple at Sloppy Joe’s, the Key West landmark. A popular veteran of the Midwest music scene, Dailey regularly performs to capacity crowds from Michigan to Florida. Close friends for over a decade, Silverstein and Dailey traveled to Nashville in 1997 to record Underwater Land. A regular in Nashville's music circles, Silverstein assembled some of that city's finest musicians, and produced the recordings.Underwater Land is already being hailed as the most anticipated release of the year by the millions of Silverstein fans around the world. Sarah Weinman of the Shel Silverstein Archive calls it “absolutely wonderful... [Silverstein’s] last hurrah... whether you are young, old, young at heart, or somewhere in between, get this album!” Chicago Parent magazine featured UL in a feature article "The Last of Silverstein is a First Choice", calling it a "wonderfully creative and poignant recording”, and Disney’s Family Fun magazine enthused: "Lyrically marvelous, marvelously irreverent, and irreverently hilarious!" Underwater Land received a Parents’ Guide to Children’s Media award, and the Parent’s Choice Foundation has just awarded Underwater Land the prestigious 2003 Gold Award, it’s highest.Dailey and Silverstein’s mutual love of the sea and songwriting magically unite in Underwater Land, where fish, lobsters and other sea characters sing, joke and make unforgettable underwater music. Brought to life by Dailey’s delightfully personable singing, Underwater Land is full of the irreverence and easy charm that have made Shel Silverstein one of the best-loved, and best-selling authors of all time.

$14.89 Never one to tread the expected path, Lucinda Williams followed her big breakthrough album, CAR WHEELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD, with a pair of low-key records full of sad, quiet, fragile songs (interrupted by the occasional barn-burner). LIVE @ THE FILLMORE concentrates heavily on those latter two releases, unleashing all the intense, burning emotions that lay at their core, making plain the inherent frisson lurking below the surface of such ostensibly laconic tunes as "Lonely Girls" and "Righteously." Meanwhile, songs that already had plenty of bite in their studio versions are pumped up to an even more electrifying, visceral level (a bold, crunching "Changed the Locks;" the roaring, bluesy "Joy"). The debt Williams and her band owe to Neil Young & Crazy Horse is illuminated on "Are You Down," and, elsewhere, ...

| | Bob Dylan - The Other Side Of The Mirror DVD (2007)
Underwater Land
$11.19 After plugging in at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, Bob Dylan's break with the folk scene was complete. The ensuing sonic assault caused pandemonium among the crowd, including an apoplectic Pete Seeger, and ruptured Dylan's standing among many of his longtime fans. This collection of Dylan's performances at the festival, taken over three years and filled with plenty of never-before-seen footage, charts his rapid evolution as an artist. Beginning in 1963, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MIRROR captures Dylan playing the folk and protest songs that endeared him to so many of his generation--including "Only A Pawn In Their Game," "Chimes of Freedom," and "It Ain't Me, Babe" (with Joan Baez)--before he turned toward a more abstract songwriting style, coupled with a forceful rock 'n' roll sound, that climaxed in a frenetic, electrified performance of "Maggie's Farm," and "Like a Rolling Stone" in 1965.
Few performances in history are as legendary - or as controversial - as Dylan's 1965 appearance at the Newport Folk Festival. In a single galvanizing instant, Dylan plugged an entire generation in, forever changing not only the way the music was made, but the way it was heard. This DVD puts you ...

| | John Goldman In Walked Pierre CD (2005)
Underwater Land
$11.49 A fine saxophonist, John Goldman explores a variety of modern jazz styles throughout In Walked Pierre. Some of the music is essentially bebop, particularly "Katerina's" (which uses the chord changes of "There Will Never Be Another You") and "Column Blues," while some of the music, such as "Hicks & Yahoos," is eccentric post-bop. Somehow Goldman manages to turn the schlocky pop song "It Was a Very Good Year" into passable jazz, and the music in general ranges from Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers to Greg Osby. Goldman's quintet/sextet is filled with currently obscure players but all are top-notch, versatile, and adaptable to the diverse material. The variety and heated solos, along with some subtle surprises, make this a consistently stimulating set of modern jazz by musicians who deserve to be much better known. ~ Scott Yanow
Over the past decade, Goldman has played many of Chicago's music venues, including the Chicago Jazz Festival, the Jazz Showcase, Orchestra Hall, Ravinia Festival, and Arie Crown Theater. He has played many music clubs around the city, such as the Green Mill, The Velvet Lounge, Joe's Bebop Cafe, Pete Miller's, Smoke Daddy, and many others. John's new quintet plays every Tuesday at Kitty Moon as well as other jazz venues around Chicago, and will be going back into the studio in August of 2006 to record his third CD.John is respected for his talent as a composer. His debut CD release 'For all the people' (2001) is an all original project and featuring some of Chicago's finest musicians such as Bobby Broom and Ron Perrillo. John's new CD 'In Walked Pierre' (BluJazz 2005), was voted one of the top 20 jazz albums of 2005 by Chicago Public Radio WBEZ and is now available in stores nation wide.
