Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles When a volcano erupts near a children's hospital in the South Pacific, three convicts and a priest must rescue the patients and staff. This forerunner of the volcano disaster pics of 1997 features a solid-gold cast. THE DEVIL AT 4 O'CLOCK is a disaster flick with a star-studded cast. Spencer Tracy stars as a priest who has lost his faith and has become an alcoholic. He is to be replaced by a new cleric on the South Seas island on which he works, arriving on a plane carrying three manacled convicts (Frank Sinatra, Gregoire Aslan, and Bernie Hamilton) on their way to prison on the main island of Tahiti. Tracy asks for permission to have the convicts help him finish the chapel at the island's hospital for children with leprosy, but, as they work, a series of earthquakes signal that the island's slumbering volcano might be waking. Finally, a huge quack erupts and the island's inhabitants prepare to evacuate, leaving Tracy, Sinatra, and company the responsibility of escorting the lepers to safety, a task that requires chaperoning them down the mountain, through the jungle, and out to the last evacuation boat before it departs at 4:00 sharp. The dark tale also includes a romantic element featuring Barbara Luna as a blind woman whom Sinatra can't refuse. Shot on the island of Maui in Hawaii.

A seaplane lands on the island of Talua to unload three criminals - including Harry (Academy Award(r)Winner Frank Sinatra, 1954 Best Actor in a Supporting Role, From Here to Eternity) - plus a young priest, Father Perreau (Kerwin Mathews), who has come to succeed aging, irascible Father Doonan (Academy Award(r) Winner Spencer Tracy, 1938 Best Actor in a Leading Role, Captains Courageous and 1939 Best Actor in a Leading Role, Boys Town). When an earthquake and volcanic eruption strike Talua, FatherDoonan persuades Harry to parachute with him into the mountains on a daring rescue to an isolated hospital. The party - mostly children - is menaced by landslides, forest fires, flowing lava and the near-collapse of a footbridge as they make their perilous way to safety. Tracy and Sinatra are in peak form as the unlikely heroes of this suspense-filled adventure.

Devil At 4 O'Clock DVD
$58.05 Without argument, Frank Sinatra is the most iconic American singer of the 20th century. This whopping five-disc set issued by Reprise attempts to define Sinatra by performing in the place that seemingly defined him. It contains 61 never-before-issued performances of the singer in concert appearances in New York from the mid-'50s through to 1990. It also includes a DVD of a performance at Carnegie Hall, taped in 1980 with 16 more performances, for a total of 77 tracks. Disc One features radio broadcasts. Its first four cuts are taken from his appearance at the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra's 20th anniversary gig, broadcast from Manhattan Center in 1955. The selections are all ballads, with the capper being "This Love of Mine." Disc Two is comprised of an excellent performance at Carnegie Hall, with Bill Miller conducting the orchestra, and Sinatra's great quartet. This is where we get performances of "My Way," "Send in the Clowns," and "Bad Bad Leroy Brown." Disc Three also comes from 1974; recorded at Madison Square Garden, it contains the same core band ...

$23.39 Disney restarts their beloved Witch Mountain franchise with this family-friendly adventure. Dwayne Johnson (THE GAME PLAN) stars as a taxi driver who gets more than get bargained for when he picks up two teen runaways (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig). Not only does the pair possess supernatural powers, but they're also trying desperately to escape people who have made them their targets.
Former professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson (aka "The Rock") makes family-friendly fare with director Andy Fickman’s (THE GAME PLAN) sci-fi adventure, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN. Johnson plays Jack Bruno, a surly former felon who is trying to stay out of trouble by driving a cab in Las Vegas and who embarks upon the adventure of a lifetime when two teens appear in his taxi and need a ride to (seemingly) the middle of nowhere. He quickly realizes that the mysterious siblings, Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig), are far from average--especially when they are pursued by a villain wearing a high-tech suit of armor. With the ...

$5.29 Reese Witherspoon is surprisingly effective as Becky Sharp in Mira Nair's lush adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's classic novel of Victorian England, VANITY FAIR. Nair, known for such films as SALAAM BOMBAY!, MISSISSIPPI MASALA, and MONSOON WEDDING, tells the compelling story of a young orphan girl, Sharp, who attempts to rise above her station in very class-conscious British society. Sharp enters this very rich and rigid world as a governess who captures the heart of Rawdon Crawley (James Purefoy), who chooses love over the family fortune, a financial decision ...
