Russell Malone on guitar
CD is better than I thought it would be.

great music, but NOT ray's last recording!
Although the music is great, the company is totally wrong in making us believe that this was Ray Brown's last recording.
Ray's lasat trio was with the great and little know pianoplayer Larry Fuller.
He was on tour with this trio when he suddenly died in his sleep.
Of course he will always be the greatest bassplayer that ever lived, and most certainly did his best work with his friend and musical counterpart Oscar Peterson.
But jazzhistory demands that you give the right information.
So please Telarc give us the music Ray recorded just before he passed with Larry Fuller.
This facts however gives me no right to give this fine cd with Monty Alexander and great guitarplayer Russell Malone a lower rate.
Because the music is just great, and you will love it!
But given the true facts, I am really looking forward to the real last recording of the great Ray Brown.
Besides that I feel Larry Fuller deserves a splendid recording contract, so he can record with great men like John Clayton or Christian McBride on bass and the splendid Jeff Hamilton on drums.
Maybe Telarc should do just that given what they did wrong.
All in all a great release, fine music, but please Telarc give us the truth!
