| | Gamma Ray Sigh No More CD - Import Gamma Ray Discography of CDs
This Asian edition of SIGH NO MORE by Gamma Ray contains three extra tracks.
The first three records from Kai Hansen's band tried to follow a certain innovation/ evolution within German power metal's restricted scene. Sigh No More, the second of them, does not escape to this noble intention of the former Helloween guitarist. The record shows a band finding its identity through 11 cuts where various influences mark the route all along its path. It takes a series of bumps, where the peaks mark the creative apex of the group and the low ones border the dullest mediocrity. Probably, Sigh No More is the most innovative and imaginative effort from the German band, and the one that the passing of time digests with greater pride. The work begins with "Changes," a tune with a magnificently constructed refrain. Also, the haunting title song, the experimental "The Spirit," and the powerful "As Time Goes By," a song in which Ralf Scheepers' vocal skills are demonstrated to be enviable, stand out as the album's highlights. But overall, "One With the World" must be recognized as the record's indisputable masterpiece, a wrenching, rather old-fashioned anthemic tune à la Manowar, with a perfect feeling to be shouted at the shows from the band. The rest of the record rambles along some similarly ambitious tracks, but with less brilliant results. After Sigh No More would come the irregular Insanity & Genius and later on Land of the Free, where the German guitarist and his troupe would finally find their longtime sought-after sound, a melody-based power metal sound that would definitively win them fans across genres. That would lead them to release more accessible and predictable albums year after year, less fissured than Sigh No More and surely without the same surprise capacity. [In 2002 the first seven Gamma Ray records were digitally remastered and enriched with bonus tracks, in addition to being displayed in digipack format, with some important visual changes in the original covers. Sigh No More bonus tracks are the unreleased "Heroes" and "Who Do You Think You Are," and a pre-production version of "Dream Healer"]. ~ Robert Aniento
Asian remastered reissue of the power metal act's 1991 album includes three bonus tracks, 'Heroes', 'Dream Healer' (Pre-Production Version) & 'Who Do You Think You Are'. Slipcase. Sanctuary. 2002.

One would think that Canadian hard rock power trio Triumph would be in exceedingly high spirits after earning their fourth consecutive platinum album with 1981's career highlight, Allied Forces, but the residue of their most grueling bout of worldwide touring yet had actually left the band physically and creatively exhausted. That being said, the "rock & roll machine" had to keep on right on rolling, and with ...

Sigh No More album
$10.09 All tracks have been digitally mastered using 24-bit technology.
Triumph's once unstoppable "rock & roll machine" was seriously running out of gas by the release of 1984's Thunder Seven, which was named thus because it was, in fact, their seventh studio album in Canada (sixth worldwide). Where the previous year's Never Surrender had managed to disguise the band's dwindling stores of inspiration and desire beneath a semi-convincing imitation of glories past, Thunder Seven revealed a group ...

$8.85 Even during the best of times, Triumph's career was defined by a never-ending power struggle between its two lead singers and primary songwriters, Rik Emmett and Gil Moore. One of Triumph's most consistent albums, ...

Sigh No More music CDs
$7.59 WHEN THE PAWN... was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album and "Paper Bag" was nominated for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
Of the many women who came of age during the "Lilith Fair" age of the 90s, none was as intellectually precocious or as emotionally scarred as Fiona Apple. Her sophomore album, WHEN THE PAWN revealed Apple to be a fiercely independent artist who jealously guarded the sanctity of her creative expression. It bubbles over with confessionals pertaining to the effects that fame had on Apple's continuing string of disastrous relationships.
Rather than whine about her trials and tribulations, the lithesome 20-something matter-of-factly sings of yearning ("Paper Bag"), moving on from bad love ("The Way Things Are"), and staying wrapped up in it ("Limp"). As was the case on her debut, Apple's smoky delivery and understated ...

Sigh No More music CDs
$8.79 "West of Rome have crafted an album of beautifully smart Americana loaded with unforgettable songs about love and life. Great from start to finish...like albums are supposed to be" Bob Andrews, Undertow Records West of Rome's sound is prairie-wind howl, harnessed and ground through post punk machinery. Their sweet vocal harmonies and irony-free approach recall the Topanga Canyon sounds of the early '70s--minus the Nudie suits, six shooters and Bruce Berry. Like the bastard children of Patti Smith and Neil Young, West of Rome delves deep into the American songbook and plays with images, sounds and messages both vintage and vanguard. "There are a lot of bands trying to make this kind of music, but these guys have the right...It's in them, and it's genuine." Jay Bennett, Producer & Songwriter The band's first record, "Cranberry Sauce," won notice and praise from ...
