After the noticeable editions in 1994, 1995, 1997 & 1999, the ProgFest 2000 (The 1st and 2nd of September at the Mirada Theater in Los Angeles) will remain the ultimate incarnation of the most famous Progressive rock festival in the world. The Musea "ProgFest 2000" double-CD testifies to what Progressive Rock has been able to beget for the last three decades of the millenium. For this occasion, pioneers reformed like SUPERSISTER (The Netherlands). MONA LISA appears in its current line-up with singer Dominique Le GUENNEC and musicians from VERSAILLES. Besides the French band experienced the biggest ovation of the festival ! Thus KENSO plays with the American of SPOCK'S BEARD and THE ROCKET SCIENTISTS or the South American of CODICE (Mexico) and TEMPUS FUGIT (Brazil). The cover was designed by Paul WHITEHEAD, the designer of the first GENESIS albums. The DVD shows hardly the same performance, without SPOCK'S BEARD and THE ROCKET SCIENTISTS but with colour ! Progfest 2000 album
$13.09 With most contemporary country artists, you could guarantee that a song called "American Ride" would be a slice of jingoism, but Toby Keith isn't like most country singers. His "American Ride" casts a cynical eye at desperate housewives and wannabe pop stars, not celebrating down-home values but wondering where we're all headed on this American Ride at the end of the 2000s, a sentiment not all that far removed from some of Keith's previous social commentary, which makes it a mild surprise that it is the only song here that doesn't come from his own pen. As superb and striking as it is, it's not necessarily a good keystone for the rest of the record, which does have a few tougher numbers that pick up on the lean, mean vibe of 2008's THAT DON'T MAKE ME A BAD GUY -- "Every Dog Has Its Day," the sly "If I Had One," and the heavy blues stomp "Loaded" -- but spends more time on the softer side, even when he kicks up a bit of dust on the ...

Progfest 2000 CD music
$13.85 It's hard to not be impressed by the sheer sonic onslaught that is otherwise known as Nile. Except to the most hardened death metal fanatic, the genre has a way of sounding the same after a while, but Nile is one of the few exceptions -- able to put their own unmistakable fingerprints on this heavy duty style (Egyptian-influenced lyrics and musical bits, highly impressive instrumental dexterity, etc.). And on their sixth studio effort overall, 2009's Those Whom the Gods Detest, Nile has once again proven that they are a step ahead of the rest of the pack. Although some of the sonic depth ...

| | Jason Levasseur Driver Is The DJ CD (2005)
Progfest 2000 music CDs
$10.15 The long-awaited follow up to "watching the girls go by"... this album takes independent-touring-performing songwriter Jason LeVasseur to an equal standing with his major label peers. Although best known for his dynamic live shows across the country, this album will surely advance his reputation as a well-respected recording artist. Driver Is The DJ is the new album. We love it. You also don't want to miss out on the "life in general" CDs !!!================Jason LeVasseur has lived around the world - Mexico, Belgium, North Carolina, Massachusetts, New Jersey and soon Nashville - but amid the changes of venue, one thing has remained constant: the award-winning singer/songwriter's folk-tinged, pop/rock roots.LeVasseur's musical formula includes relatable, story-like lyrics backed by his gritty, soulful voice - a voice that Indie-Music 's Jennifer Layton called 'drawling, weathered (and) warm. ' As the Columbia (S.C.) Free Times observed, LeVasseur's music contains 'great songwriting and energy uncommon in acoustic-based music. 'LeVasseur was born in the United States but spent most of his childhood in Mexico and Belgium, finally returning to the States for college - but not before studying French, Spanish and Italian for a year in Italy. LeVasseur's world travels have influenced his playing style and his perspective on the world, providing material for the often-funny stories he tells between songs during his engaging live performances. LeVasseur's flair for storytelling is evident on his Authentic Records releases, which include 'Driver is the DJ' (2005), 'The Opening Guy: Live at Eddie's Attic' (2003) and 'Watching the Girls Go By' (2001). A new live album is scheduled for release in spring 2006. 'It was just LeVasseur onstage with a guitar, harmonica and a voice that blew the crowd out of the water,' wrote Jordan Way in a 2005 concert review in the Stoutonia, the University of Wisconsin-Stout student newspaper. 'He was very relaxed as he played his original music, talked with the crowd and cracked jokes. 'Campus Activities Magazine, a publication that has bestowed numerous awards on LeVasseur, agreed, praising his dynamic, audience-pleasing performances - as well as his 'smart lyrics mixed with poignant arrangements' - in a January 2006 article. LeVasseur is one of a handful of artists who are continually re-booked by colleges nationwide. Other notable career highlights:• Has opened for Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, John Mayer, The Roots, The Wallflowers, Ben Folds, ...
