With a raucous cast of characters ranging from feuding big-haired sisters to the cross-dressing Brother Boy, SORDID LIVES skewers Texan white trash culture. The film marks the directorial debut of Del Shores, the writer-producer of the television program TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL.

Sordid Lives Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Don't miss this one!!! One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long long time. A lady I work with borrowed it and the next night had me order her a copy of it too. Beth Grant is as funny as they come. Actually all the actors did very well at keeping the laughs coming. Poinent message A great message of tollerance presented in an haliarous manner."Brother Boy" is acted excellently. I loved the movie, except for the side ache from laughter Submitted by pudunk4337 (Henderson, NV, (USA)) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A comic gem! Is this a good movie? Not especially. Is it one of the funniest, most enjoyable you'll ever encounter? YES! The sheer enjoyment of watching the extraordinary, finely-honed performances of the actors in this film quickly make you forget any shortcomings of the play on which it is based. It is absolutely fall-off-your seat funny! When I first saw it in the theater, Kaye Ballard was there with a friend seeing it for the 4th time, saying it was one of the funniest things she had ever seen in her career. If that isn't the best endorsement for a comedy, I don't know what is!
Do yourself a favor - buy this movie. You'll want to watch it again and again, and show it to your friends.

A Must See! Sordid Lives is hilarious!! You've got to watch it a few times to catch all the underlying comedy. The stereotypes of "white trash" are right on! Some of the best one-liners I've ever heard! This is a must see! Sometimes may seem a little slow, but it's worth waiting for the next funny line!! $18.29 This "big country" romance involves an emotionally stilted Manhattan artist named Henry (Ayre Gross) who returns to his Montana hometown of Big Eden when his grandfather takes ill. Drama instantly arises as Henry learns the boyhood best friend (Tim DeKay) on whom he's fostered a twenty-year-long unrequited crush, has also returned to Big Eden and is anxious to resume their friendship. Henry also comes into contact with Dexter (Eric Schweig), the Native American proprietor of a local general store. Quiet and withdrawn, Dexter finds himself attracted to Henry but expresses his interest solely through a progressively more elaborate series of home-cooked meals. It is interesting that though they are surrounded with love and ...

$19.97 Nicholas Moore directs this tweeny bopper fish-out-of-water comedy starring Emma Roberts. Poppy (Roberts) is a spoiled Malibu brat, and the film opens with her wreaking havoc on her stepmother's moving-in day. Her father (Aidan Quinn) decides he's had it with her wild ways and promptly packs her off to an English boarding school. Poppy arrives at Abbey Mount with blond extensions, a designer wardrobe, and plenty of attitude, and she is furious when she is forced to follow the school's strict code of conduct. She is determined to find some way back to sunny Malibu. She soon befriends her roommates, a loyal, fun-loving troop of girls, who agree to help her come up with a way to get kicked out of school. They devise a scheme for Poppy to get caught fooling around with the headmistress's (Natasha Richardson) son, Freddie (Alex Pettyfer), but things soon go awry when Poppy's rival Harrier (Georgia King) tries to step in and foil her plan. Poppy is forced to make some big changes, and decide what it is she truly wants.
Emma Roberts is perhaps best known as the niece of Julia, and her wide smile is indeed reminiscent of her superstar aunt's, as is her feisty charm and likeability. ...

Sordid Lives DVD
$10.19 Despite the criticism Gus Van Sant's PSYCHO remake received, it garners far more respect than this Turkish twin of THE EXORCIST. With most of the same scenes as in the original but shot on a pea-sized budget, this film feels eerily similar to the William Friedkin classic. But without the talents of Friedkin, his cast, and crew, SEYTAN would fall into the so-bad-it's-good ...
