Ministry strode the alternative music world like a colossus during the late '80s and early '90s, placing one huge foot in the domain of industrial music, then another in the domain of heavy metal, dwarfing the aggressive capabilities of its contemporaries and sounding surprisingly tuneful while doing it. After 1992's Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs, though, the band disintegrated around leader Alain Jourgensen, and Ministry limped through the rest of the '90s with a pair of desultory, deliberately difficult records, Filth Pig and The Dark Side of the Spoon. Nearly a decade after Ministry's peak, 2003's Animositisomina returned the group to the quality of its Wax Trax prime, with an opener (the title track) that ranks up there with classics like "Burning Inside" and "Just One Fix." Ministry is still hell-bent on the kind of rigid, hooky thrash metal that fewer groups were interested in with the rise of nu-metal and rap-metal, but the bandmembers prove their chops; they may look like lords of drug-addled doom and gloom, but they're a great band with energy left to burn. Animositisomina nods to the group's new wave past with a cover of Magazine's "The Light Pours out of Me," and occasionally inspires vocal and melodic comparisons to Jane's Addiction, the band's rivals (and polar opposites) in the alternative metal scene of the late '80s. Still dour and humorless, but pruned of its experimental tendencies, Ministry delivered its first solid record in a decade. ~ John Bush When it comes to a Ministry record, fans can always find comfort in a few unshakable maxims: There shall be whiplash-inducing industrial drum beats. There shall be crushingly loud and distorted guitars. And yes, there shall be lyrics dealing with death, hatred, violence, and general alienation and disgust with just about everything. Longtime Ministry admirers will be glad to know that all those qualities are firmly in place on ANIMOSITISOMINA, an album that finds Ministry not wavering an inch after 20 years of recording. Naturally, this formula doesn't allow for a lot of variety, but Al Jourgensen and crew are simply committed to delivering the most unwaveringly heavy and intense music this side of death metal. Not surprisingly, ANIMOSITISOMINA delivers just that in spades. Even the mass acceptance of groups as heavy as Mudvayne and Pantera did little to lessen Ministry's impact. This is hard, intense stuff that has, and hopefully always will have, the ability to instantly tick off parents and inspire undying devotion in disenfranchised teens everywhere.Rolling Stone (3/6/03, p.68) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...The quintessential industrial-metal act returns to eat its young - and pay homage to its forefathers....A wonderfully bleak new beginning..." Entertainment Weekly (3/7/03, p.72) - "...The sustained ferocity on display here is admirable..." - Rating: B Ministry Animositisomina Songs Animositisomina Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews superb brick to the head... Since LAND OF RAPE AND HONEY I knew Ministry are never going to change. And I like that just fine. This is right up their with RELOAD and to a lesser extent PSLAM 69. If you have to buy a MINISTRY album get PSLAM 69, then MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO TASTE then this. IF YOU LIKE IT ALL then get the rest....except 12 INCH SINGLES , WITH SYMPATHY and TWITCH. download a few songs before you buy that. still this is an A+ 5 star release. buy it soon Submitted by mayhem13 (Ocean NJ) Was This Review Helpful? A Good Ministry Album Animositisomina has got to be one of the most raw album I have ever heard and Ministry's heaviest, but it is not Ministry's best, I recommend "The Mind is a Terrible thing to Taste" way more than this album. This album also shows that Ministry is slowly starting to move out of their signature industrial sound, which is disappointing to me. The best songs on this album are "Animosity" and their Magazine cover of "The Light Pours Out of Me." When I first bought the album I was very disappointed but after a week I began to love it so I highly recommend downloading a couple of songs before buying this album, this album requires a certain taste and it takes time to get into. Al and Co. still have it! This definetly the best Ministry album in a loooong time. Sure, it's still nowhere near as ground-breaking or essential as 'Land of Rape and Honey', but it is certainly a vast improvement from either 'Filthpig' or 'Dark Side of the Spoon'. Tracks like "Unsung" and "Stolen" are more than enough to re-establish anybodies lost faith in this band. Submitted by a reviewer (Upper Darby, Pa.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Downward Spiral This is absolutely terrible. I listened to it twice--the first time it was terrible, but I had to listen again because I couldn't believe Ministry could sound so pathetic. Stick w/ the older albums (Mind and Land). I think all the years of drugs and distortion have rendered these musicians impotent. Submitted by a reviewer (Washington, DC) Was This Review Helpful? al queda finally comes out of hiding for this album ministry is finally back as the one of the fore fathers of industrial music. This album contains some new elements for ministry. AL sings a lot more on this album and puts more melody into his music while still using some of his old tricks. Since Al has sobered up, you can hear his enthusiasm in this album. This album has a lot of life to it compared to the dark side of the spoon. This is my favorite album since land of rape and honey and the mind is a terrible thing to taste. If you are a ministry fan, you will appreciate this album, because it has the intensity of the past while still exploring the creative aspect of his music.

| | Ministry Houses Of The Mole CD (2004)
Animositisomina CD music
$9.99 Contains sixty untitled tracks following "Worm". Ministry: Al Jourgensen (vocals, guitar, harmonica, bass instrument, programming); Mike Scaccia (guitar, bass guitar); John Monte (bass instrument); Mark Baker (drums, percussion). Released in 2003, Animositisomina might've brought Ministry back from the dead, but it's Houses of the Molé that fully resurrects everyone's favorite ghoul. Guv-hating Al Jourgensen is back, and he's siphoned the gas from Jesus' hotrod for a new squadron of industro-thrash devil machines. In music and platform, Molé is like a rebroadcast from the year 1992, and that's exactly Jourgensen's point. Hate the new boss, same as the old boss. Where once there was "N.O.W.," there is now "No W," and a new batch of soundbites to paint the Prez as a spooky Orwellian snake trader. Jourgensen's words are a blunt-edged rant. "Ask me why you feel deceived/And stripped of all your liberties/It ...
