Concetta Kirschner, aka Princess Superstar, isn't the greatest MC; but lucky for her, an MC is more than just delivery. Her hilarious lyrics make up for her lack of mic control. A soul sister to Brown University-educated MC Paul Barman, the Princess is kitsch, convoluted, self-deprecating, and drops pop culture references nearly every other line.
Her subject matter on LAST OF THE GREAT 20th CENTURY COMPOSERS, her third release, ranges from sex ("NYC Cunt"), to dreams of wealth ("I Hope I Sell a Lot of Records At Christmastime"), to harassing celebrities ("Kool Keith's Ass"). Beatwise, Concetta's not a bad producer. She synthesizes everything from heavy metal through punk rock, new wave, pop, and hip-hop itself with her quirky and original beats. She's got some talent assisting her, too; check out Prince Paul's beat on "Christmastime"--it's a classic.
