Irving has such an affinity for '60s dreamy pop and its followers that the band could easily be a link from originators such as the Zombies to newcomers such as Beachwood Sparks. Not only that, "L-O-V-E" was co-produced by Andy Paley (Brian Wilson, Jonathan Richman), resulting in a garage-inspired swirl of rock. These five songwriters and singers from Los Angeles (the first band for each member) have assembled a worthy debut that reveals tons of influence from Elephant 6 bands (especially from Neutral Milk Hotel) but also possesses the chamber pop of Belle & Sebastian. "Turn of the Century" and "Did I Ever Tell You I'm in Love With Your Girlfriend" rejoice with glee and bouncy "ba ba bas." They're not quite Elephant 6 material, yet Irving doesn't quite fit into country psychedelia à la Beachwood Sparks either. Good Morning Beautiful falls somewhere in between, drawing from the best of both worlds. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
Showcasing clever lyricism and engaging melodies, Good Morning Beautiful is a sure-fire indie pop winner. Good Morning Beautiful makes resourceful use of the talents of every one of its five singer-songwriters. Truly a collaborative band, each member has co-written and sing on at least one song on the self-produced Good Morning Beautiful. Irving's blending of wildly catchy pop harmonies and a solid rhythm section produce their special brand of pop magic. Even the most jaded and cynical pop scenesters will find themselves moving to the beat of these contagious tunes. Jumping smoothly from the animated "L-O-V-E" to the curiously affecting "Did I Ever Tell You I'm in Love with Your Girlfriend" to the melancholic beauty of "Holiday," this record has it all. The effortless segue from the upbeat, energetic pop sound of "A Very Frivolous Distribution of Sundries" to the tenderly graceful "Faster than Steam" elegantly demonstrates Irving's range and creativity.
Personnel: Andy Paley (guitar); Aaron Espinoza (lap steel guitar, drum programming); Mark Wooten (Moog synthesizer).
Recording information: The Shipyard, Eagle Rock, CA; Ton Record Factory, West Hollywood, CA.

Good Morning Beautiful songs
$11.19 Sonic Boom was not released until 1979 and then remained in print only for a brief time before eventually being reissued years later. In addition to the great trumpeter Lee Morgan and a fine rhythm section (pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Billy Higgins), the well-rounded set is a bit special for it allows the often R&B-associated tenor David "Fathead" Newman an opportunity to stretch out in a more challenging setting than usual. Highlights include the funky "Fathead," the complex "Sneaky Pete," Morgan's lyricism on "I'll Never Be the Same," and the infectious rhythms on "Mumbo Jumbo." This is an undeservedly obscure session. ~ Scott Yanow
This is indeed a welcome curiosity. The 2003 version of Lee Morgan's Sonic Boom was recorded in 1967, was not released until 1979, and then was quickly deleted. When it was reissued on CD in the 1990s, it was only in print for a short ...

Good Morning Beautiful album
$8.99 (MP3 Available for Download) The centerpiece is "Take Me Out" (a U.K. top ten hit), which plays out a series of come-ons between rival assassins, over what begins as a sneering slice of mid-1990s Britpop, only to morph into a funky dance-floor tune. Kapranos ...

Good Morning Beautiful songs
$12.15 (MP3 Available for Download) Though not officially a Cure album, the Glove's sole outing, 1983's BLUE SUNSHINE, received the deluxe remastered/reissued treatment along with a trio of mid-'80s Cure classics in 2006. This project, a collaboration between Cure mastermind Robert Smith and Siouxsie & the Banshees bassist Steve Severin, was released shortly before THE TOP, the Cure's most experimental record, and the Banshees' atmospheric HYAENA (which had Smith sitting in on guitar), and finds the duo indulging in darkly whimsical synth-pop tunes. Drawing ...

Good Morning Beautiful MP3 Album
$9.55 (MP3 Available for Download) Although Kix began life as a hard-rocking band, by the late '80s the group had managed to smooth out the rough edges just enough to crossover into the then-thriving pop-metal world, scoring a major hit with 1988's Midnite Dynamite. But Kix always took a year or two off between albums, and blew their window of opportunity by issuing their follow-up, 1991's Hot Wire, smack dab in the middle of the grunge takeover. Perhaps as a contractual ...
