Jeff Daniels portrays George Washington in the A & E movie presentation of the time and events of Washington's crossing of the Delaware on Dec. 17, 1776. THE CROSSING is a stirring dramatization of General George Washington's surprise attack on the British Army's German mercenaries and the Battle of Trenton. Based on the book by Howard Fast, THE CROSSING brings to life Washington's historic passage across the Delaware on Christmas night, 1776 and the lopsided fight that followed.

Crossing Movie Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) This is a great historical movie "The Crossing" is a good-looking, well-acted movie from A&E. Jeff Daniels is super as George Washington, he has the most "human" portrayal of Washington you will see and the rest of the supporting cast is good as well. All and all a very touching film about our struggles and beginnings as a nation. Submitted by a reviewer (Mankato, MN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

It is a great historical movie for the whole family! This is a great movie for the entire family to watch, and for your children to learn about a piece of our American History. Submitted by Audie (Del Rio, Texas, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A tribute to our American heroes. This non-epic depiction of the last days leading up to, and including, the historic "Washingtons crossing of the Delaware" and attack on the Hessian garrison at Trenton, New Jersey, is a must see for anyone remotely interested in American History.
Robert Harmon's exciting little film captures the despair that George Washington and his officers were experiencing just prior to their daring attack on a superior military force. The film accurately dramatizes, with only a couple of minor flaws, the historical events that became the pivotal point of the American struggle for freedom. The film culminates in a military engagement that was not only daring in conception but near-miraculous in outcome.
This little story is not only exciting but thought provoking. In these times of self-indulgence we need to pause occasionally and give tribute to those historical figures that made our way of life one of the best in the world. These people sacrificed so that their dream could become our reality.
Don't pass up this tribute to greatness!

Crossing review
$10.29 WWII. The "Blue Max", a coveted medal for achievement in flying, is ruthlessly sought by Peppard, a poor-boy German soldier who climbs out of the trenches and into the aristocratic air force. He is met with prejudice by the other contestants, wealthy snobs who look down upon his low economic stature. When he claims the title, he earns the respect of the General and the General's wife (Andress), who wants to repay him in ways that the General might not appreciate. Peppard, on the other hand, does. Fantastic aerial combat highlights the film, although the scenes between the two lovers don't hurt matters much.

$9.69 The pixel-happy production company Blue Sky follows its successful feature ICE AGE with more animated antics in ROBOTS. Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is a talented inventor who hopes to make his fortune by moving to Robot City and working among the nuts and bolts of the robotics industry. Rodney fantasizes about building robots for his boyhood hero and master inventor Big Weld (Mel Brooks), but when he meets him, Rodney's dream threatens to turn rusty. Big Weld reveals that his company is now being run by the evil Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), a merciless moneymaker who wants to rid the world of the antiquated robots that clutter up the streets of Robot City. This leaves Rodney's aspirations needing a major oil change, and with little chance of finding work, he feels about as useful as a broken spare part. So he takes to the streets, where he finds some unlikely salvation in a group of robots lead by Fender (Robin Williams). Fender urges Rodney to help save them from the scrap heap, while Ratchet and his company create threatening new policies on robot reconstruction. The ensuing action leads to a breathtaking set of adventures in the futuristic city.

The special effects are masterfully handled, and the rendering of Robot City is a true sight to behold. Faced with a country that now doubted their loyalty and struggling with their new situation, they turn to baseball as a way to handle their plight and find the strength to stand up for themselves becoming a true symbol of honor and pride.
