Through a magic spell, Ash, a modern-day discount-store employee, finds himself back in the middle ages. Given the key to return home by an alchemist, he bungles the incantation and, instead, releases the forces of darkness. Now Ash has one job to do before transporting to the future: defeat the army of the evil dead... if they don't defeat him first.

Unassuming store clerk Ash (Bruce Campbell) is time-warped into England's Dark Ages, where he must find the Necronomicon, a compendium of the black arts, before he can return home. Fortunately, he has time to romance a beautiful princess and battle an army of skeletons. This is the inspired sequel to EVIL DEAD and EVIL DEAD 2.

Army of Darkness Quotes/Excerpts:

"Give me some sugar, baby." -- Ash (BRUCE CAMPBELL) to his beloved (EMBETH DAVIDTZ).

Army of Darkness Reviews:

"...A crisp, punchy look and an energetic style..." -- Janet Maslin, New York Times

"...Nifty special effects and funny verbal exchanges..." -- Mike Clark, USA Today

"...Campbell is a walking human cartoon, and it's fun to watch him drop insults in late-20th-century slang..." -- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

"...[An] enjoyably silly sequel..." -- George Kiritopoulos, Total Film

3 stars out of 5 -- "This medieval-set EVIL DEAD threequel is as good-natured a horror as you'll come across..."-- Nick De Semlyen, Empire

"Sam Raimi's sequel (of sorts) to the ditzy, daffy EVIL DEAD II is still a hoot 16 years later." -- Grade: B--- Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly

4 stars Good Stuff!
All in All, Great DVD! Great special features and it's nice seeing the Director's Cut. Not the greatest of the Evil Dead series, but still a good movie.

5 stars A Great Movie In Its Best Edition
Army Of Darkness, when first shown to Universal Pictures, had such a depressive ending and many scenes them guys didn't like that much, so they decided to cut this and that, change here and there, and then USA could watch, in a limited release, Army Of Darkness in theaters with a "happy" ending. Were these changes really worthy? Now you can judge for youself. Because, buying this THX Mastered DVD, you can see both versions of the movie (the Theatrical version can be watched in both Widescreen and Fullscreen, the Director's Cut only in Widescreen) and judge which one is the best. Plus you get awesome extras in both discs (yes, this edition has two DVDs), I won't spoil your surprises, you'll see it for yourself, but take my word for it: they're great. And last but not least, a highly enjoyable movie. If you didn't like all the gore and horror from the previous Evil Dead films, this movie is perfect for you. As a matter of fact, it's perfect for everyone who wants to see an enjoyable movie. Overall, Army Of Darkness is an awesome movie from Sam Raimi (director of Spider-Man) who has Bruce Campbell as it's main character... You can't go wrong with Raimi and Campbell. An awesome movie in an awesome edition. Yes, my friends, this DVD is worth every penny you spend on it. Come get some fun and buy this baby!

Army of Darkness review
DVD $21.89  3.5 stars Top 500
Though it aired for only one season as part of THE SUPER MARIO BROS. SHOW, the classic 1980s cartoon series THE LEGEND OF ZELDA remains a nostalgic highlight of Reagan-era animation. Based on the popular Nintendo video game of the same name, the syndicated series follows the superhero adventures of a young swordsman named Link as he fights to protect the beautiful Princess Zelda (named by game creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, for writer F. Scott Fitzgerald's famous wife) from the evil clutches of the wizard Ganon in the magical kingdom of Hyrule. Deviating from its video-game source material by injecting comedy and romance into the action/fantasy/sci-fi mix, the animated series is presented in its entirety with this 13-episode collection. Federico Fellini's Oscar-nominated 8 1/2 is a masterpiece of storytelling and cinema. The most autobiographical of Fellini's films, the plot of which concerns a 43-year-old film director who is having a midlife crisis, it is a career benchmark for this magnificent Italian New Wave director. Beautifully choreographed with flashbacks, dream sequences, exaggerated fantasy scenes, and magical surrealist episodes, 8 1/2 is one of the richest, most exuberant movies ever made, in the mode of Fellini's artfully abstract LA DOLCE VITA and AMARCORD. Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni) is at a crisis point in his life and his work; in the opening sequence, Guido, suffocating, is caught in traffic with the windows of his car locked shut. He climbs out of the sunroof and literally rises up over the highway into the clouds, seemingly free, when he realizes there's a rope tied around his ankle that is violently pulling him back to earth. Cutting from this dream to the health spa where Guido is trying to recapture his creativity and write the screenplay for his next film, his vices become clear: Guido is self-absorbed, and he's distracted by the fabulous cast of actresses, intellectuals, and eccentrics who have joined him at the spa. Additionally he struggles with Freudian complexes about his wife (Anouk Aimée), his lover (Sandro Milo), his ideal woman (Claudia Cardinale), and his dead parents; and his repressive Catholic guilt follows him everywhere like a haunting mist. DVD $10.29  3.8 stars Top 500
Similar to SHREK and THE PRINCESS BRIDE, this fantasy adventure, based on a book by Gail Carson Levine, combines fairy tale with sly, 21st century pop humor. Teenage Ella (THE PRINCESS DIARIES' Anne Hathaway) lives in Frell, a magical place where humans, fairies, ogres, and other mythical folk peacefully coexist. However, when power-mad Prince Regent Edgar (Cary Elwes) passes laws that segregate humans from everyone else, Ella becomes determined to win equal rights for all. This task presents a challenge for anyone, but especially for Ella, who at birth was given the dubious gift of obedience by Lucinda (Vivica A. Fox), a fairy with an attitude. When she finds an ally, and love interest, in the almost-king Prince Charmont (Hugh Dancy), she invokes the ire of her witchy stepsister Hattie (Lucy Punch), who has figured out that Ella must obey any command. Between avoiding her stepsister, trying to break the spell, and restoring justice to the kingdom, will Ella find time for true love? The talented cast, featuring Eric Idle, Minnie Driver, Joanna Lumley, and Jimi Mistry, play up the jokes, including heartthrob posters of Prince Charmont from "Medieval Teen" magazine and a Middle Ages mall. Contemporary music, including songs sung by star Hathaway such as "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing," and riotously colorful dance numbers, complement the anachronistic humor. With its mix of SLEEPING BEAUTY, CINDERELLA, and classic teen irony, ELLA ENCHANTED provides a timeless heroine.
