(1 Customer Review)
Subtitled - American Pie & Other Hits. Nice price 10 track collection from Collectables featuring top selling hits like 'American Pie' & 'Vincent'. 2003.
Another in Collectables' reissue series that repackages budget EMI-Capitol collections. For many, Don McLean will forever be associated with his Buddy Holly epic "American Pie," so it's fitting that this collection starts off with that track. The rest of The Best of Don McLean: American Pie & Other Hits fills in the blanks with "Vincent," "Castles in the Air," "Babylon," and "If We Try." ~ Wade Kergan

$10.39 Kanpai Records Announces the Release of Filters, the New Album by Peter "Peas" McEvilleyPeas "Filters" is currently #3 on the iTunes electronica chart! , after being available for only three days!Los Angeles, CA - Release to coincide with Earthdance/United Beats of Peace Tour. Peter "Peas" McEvilley's new release "Filters", on Kanpai Records, is a sonic adventure ranging from downtempo to breakbeat. Each track contains a sample from legendary Japanese world music pioneer, Kitaro, which Peas seamlessly weaves into his original beats and melodies. Peas will be promoting Filters as a featured artist on this summer’s national “United Beats of Peace Tour.”McEvilley, who has produced and written songs for Hollywood Records, Miramax, ABC and many others, started work on this latest album last year after co-scoring a Japanese anime, “Ninja Scroll,” with Kitaro. Recognizing that Kitaro is one of the pioneers of electronic chill out music, McEvilley decided to produce a full-length CD that would incorporate samples from Kitaro’s music into new, beat heavy, electronica tracks. This summer, coinciding with the CD’s release, Peas will be performing alongside BT, Particle, and Dan the Automator, on the national United Beats of Peace Tour, where Kitaro will be the recipient of the first annual "Artist of Peace Award."Peas started DJing in the mid-nineties at some of South Beach’s hottest clubs including: Chaos’ millennium party, Nikki Beach Club, Pearl, Rumi, Touch, and Automatic Slim’s. He also toured as a drummer for several years with the reggae band, Inna Sense. While on the United Beats of Peace Tour, which spans from Aug. 19 to Sept. 19 through 18 cities, McEvilley will integrate live drums and keyboard into his DJ performance.Established in 1994, Los Angeles-based Domo Music Group, is guided by founder Eiichi Naito's mission, "To provide a home for both the creators and aficionados of quality music beyond the borders of categorization.” Staying true to this mission, this month Domo is launching its new imprint, Kanpai Records. This new label will focus on electronic and indie rock hybrids - plus everything in between. "We want to put out music that encompasses the best of all worlds… nothing too genre specific, but rather the gray space in between," says Michelle Ogata, Kanpai's Marketing Director. Kanpai’s first three albums are due for release in Fall 2004 and include Unconscious Ruckus by Appogee, Filters by Peas and Reinterpretations by various artists, including Timmy the Terror ...

| | Brigitte London Thunder CD (2009)
Best Of Don Mclean: American Pie & Other Hits CD music
$11.49 At first listen to Brigitte London's latest release, THUNDER, one instantly is captivated by the aliveness of it. Her vocals are clear, direct and utterly beautiful and her songwriting has elevated to the point of mastery. Backed by her new- found friends (former Waylon Jennings band members) Richie Albright, Fred Newell, Bee Spears as well as dynamic background vocalists Diana DeWitt and John Wesley Ryles, London has created a record that combines everything that was great about the seventies hippie country movement (ala Gram Parsons), with the vocal power of Linda Rondstadt, and made it new again. Although the arrangements and production suggest retro, this record is fresh-that's the only word for it. All songs solely penned (with the exception of a Shaver/Jennings cover) depict a depth and emotional maturity that only comes from digging into the heart of one's journey and surviving depite it. London has said,"I write what I feel. There are all kinds of writers, that is the kind I am. If you want to know where I've been and where I am going, my songs tell it better than any publicity bio ever could." There is no doubt this is the truth in listening to any of her recordings. It is evident her decade in Texas influenced much of her sound, and she attracted musical elite even in her beginnings. Her first Texas release,( a traditional country record Modern Day Mae West- 2001) found her sharing space with Lonestar Legend Dale Watson, Earl Poole Ball (Johnny Cash pianist/producer for twenty-five years & producer of Flying Burrito Brothers), Haggard guitar icon Redd Volkaert, among others. The record was ballsy, even if Producer Pete Mitchell (Ernest Tubb) seemed unsure how to get the best out of her vocally. Her second Texas release, Untraveled Road 2002, seemed to carry a quiet desperation and not quite capture London's magic that is so strong in her live performances. Her third, Like A Phoenix, was self-produced and recorded after relocating to Nashville, and received critical praise for its genre-blending collection of originals. This was a turning point for London, as she met up with her long time heroes, former Waylors Richie Albright, Bee Spears and Fred Newell for the bonus track "You Ask Me To," the Jennings/Shaver cover that is included also on THUNDER. This connection seemed ...
