Frank Zappa was a true musical genius--of course, one often hears that term bandied about regarding any moe who can sing and string two dozen words together, but Zappa was the real deal. He was a killer guitarist who composed and played rock & roll, jazz, R&B, and classical music, wrote absurdly, viciously funny satirical songs, and did "rock theatre" when Alice Cooper was still in middle school. Zappa fans will love this DVD-Audio Disc, which contains not only a 1978 live performance at New York City's Palladium, but many other extras including a video clip of another 1978 performance, a radio interview, and a complete Zappa discography.
This DVD audio features Zappa, live from New York's Palladium, showcasing his special brand of humor. it also includes a black-and-white video clip of another performance from that year, a radio interview and Zappa's complete discography. Recorded in 96/24 5.1 digital surround sound.

Sonic success If you are a Zappa fan, you must have this. The 1978 band and performances are excellent, with some of Frank's most popular material represented. And the DVD-Audio surround sound will transport you right into the NYC Palladium audience. However, you will need to check with someone who was there to verify the drum kit was whirling around the hall during "Zeets."

An adventure begins... A marvellous masterpiece in DTS 5.1 sound, starting with a stunning guitar solo named "Ancient Armaments" which is followed by "Dancing Fool" with FZ's brilliant voice. An outstanding Drum Solo called "Zeets" brings a climax to all DTS Sound Fans! This perfect DVA brings brilliant music for you. Forget what's around you for at least 75 minutes and just listen. It's about time! Great to get some new stuff by the last great Americen Composer, I thought they could have done a little better with the song selection, Stinkfoot, 1 + minutes of the NYC audiance, and only 2 video's on the disc are only a couple of thing's the disc could have done without!
However,the 5.1 sound is incredible!!!!
Hopefully the ZFT won't keep dragging their feet on getting more release's out,
I highly reccomend!!! Submitted by a reviewer (Detroit,MI) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A famous live show never heard before This is a new Zappa family Trust release. The sound is fantastic. If you don't have the home cinema equipment you'll not get the DTS 5.1 sound, but believe me, the Dolby Stereo is really amazing.
You can also watch 2 short videos: Sucide Champ sung by Denny Walley and Dancin' Fool sung by FZ at the saturday Niht Live, 21 oct. 1978.
This is a valuable addition for the Zappa fans. Submitted by a reviewer (Nantes, France) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
