3 stars More for the country fans
I am a huge Willie fan and a country fan but found this CD a bit too countrified . Of course, this was to be expected in some ways as Willie's heart is Country. I am also a very big jazz fan so I love some of his great albums where he combines his wonderful delivery with more un-country stuff. I'm constantly fighting criticism for being a Willie fan (to some of my hardnosed jazz-head friends) but I would definitely lose the battle with this album. Die-hard country fans will love this but more middle-of-the road fans like me were disappointed. Willie is brilliant. He is awesome and one of the greatest musicians EVER. But, this is more of a musician's disc, I suspect. It's probably going to join the 'played once' pile of CDs at my place.
