Songs for the Withering, Rapture's second album, is no huge departure from its first one, but it's still a more-than-solid take on the whole melancholy doom-death metal sound. Comparable in various ways to Paradise Lost, Opeth, Sentenced, and (above all) Katatonia, Rapture's songs here are built up around basic mid-tempo rock drumbeats, with harmonized guitar leads and alternately crooned and growled lead vocals defining the rest of the sound. There's nothing really fancy about this music, but the hooks are consistently strong and the band has an obvious flair in the atmosphere department (though this is partially undermined by what has become a standard sort of cold, digital-sounding metal production approach circa 2003). Co-lead vocalist Petri Eskelinen's understated, clean singing is another strong point. All in all, this is a mostly tasteful and above-average album that fans of chilly, Scandinavian-bred melodic death metal will likely enjoy. ~ William York

Songs For The Withering Music Rapture Songs For The Withering Songs Songs For The Withering Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) The best! This, to me, is the best death/doom metal release of all time. Perfect mix of clean and growl vocals and the best combo of emotion, desolation and hurt I have ever heard on CD. If you like Katatonia, Anathema, Opeth, etc....you need this! Submitted by Lordestroyer (Maryland, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Another Great Album From This Band This has to be one of my favorite bands. They consistantly produce albums that allow you to enjoy your rainy days. Front to back this album is great and if you love Daylight Dies or Katatonia, this band is a great album to add to your collection. Submitted by David (Hatfield, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Songs For The Withering album
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains ...

Songs For The Withering album
$15.85 If you just can't get enough of that progressive rock, then the eighth release by the Bay Area's Enchant is just the album for you. Containing two discs and a good two and a half hours of music, Live at Last documents, in its entirety, a March 2004 hometown concert at Imusicast in Oakland, CA. Like most prog rock bands, Enchant has been able to build a much stronger following in Europe than in the U.S., so its stateside concerts are relatively rare and the fans ...
| | Raisinhill CD (2002)
Songs For The Withering CD music
$16.45 The trio Raisinhill has risen from local acclaim to widespread recognition across clubs and jamband festivals, propelled by the sheer musicianship of their playing and a self-titled CD. The group has garnered praise from some of the most-watched jamband media. Jambands.com dubbed them "New Groove of the Month," leading to their nomination for the "New Groove" category at the 4th annual Jammy Awards, held at Madison Square Garden.. Relix Magazine recently declared them one of the "best unsigned bands" and winners of their JamOff! competition. Always touring, always playing, with seemingly endless energy and drive, Raisinhill continues to bring their bristling instrumental originals to a host of summer festivals including The Gathering of the Vibes and Camp Creek in New York, Smilefest in North Carolina and Evolve in Nova Scotia. Wherever they travel, music fans are paying attention. John Kasiewicz, the guitarist, Brian Anderson, the upright bassist and Jay Bond, the drummer, have found that elusive musical relationship. They are equally accomplished and equally inventive, and the group's involved, focused, jazzed-up, rocked-out pieces have propelled them faster than most bands dare to dream. Already, Raisinhill has been given featured spots at famed clubs like the Knitting Factory in NYC, House Of Blues in Boston, The NorVa in Virginia Beach and an increasing number of major touring markets each year. More song-based than jazz-based, Raisinhill still has accomplished jazz training. Guitarist John Kasiewicz studied under the atonal composer Ernie Stires (who also taught Phish's Trey Anastasio) ...

Songs For The Withering songs
$10.15 D~S~B DOUBLE A RECORDZ, ANNISTON,ALABAMAD~S~B: Down South Boyz, Dirty South Boyz, Dem Southern Boyz--it's all in the mix as D~S~B. Formerly known as Raw Deal 256, D~S~B: D started with 4 men in their twenties from Anniston, Alabama: Kane, Tella, Verzatyle and Romeo. The group was formed in 1992 for fun while Kane was making the rounds as a club DJ. In 1995 they got serious about putting the "Double A" (Anniston, Alabama) on the music industry map. In between families, jobs and life in general members of D~S~B wrote, rehearsed, choreographed, produced and recorded what they call "the southern underground street party mix." Their first public appearance before a major audience was at the 1999 Juneteenth Heritage Festival in Anniston during the talent contest (then as Raw Deal). Performing an original song they rapped, sang and danced their way into an undisputed first place. Next, they entered a talent search sponsored by Jim Burnett of Badger Records from Nashville, Tn. This event, held in Gadsden, Alabama showed the strength of their talent as they took top prize again. Believing they could hold their own, they passed on an offer from Badger Records and decided to take the independent route to the top. In May 2000 D~S~B (Raw Deal) held its first "Southern Underground Concert" at the Mineshaft, a local hall in Anniston, expanding the group's fan base. That June their first self-produced six song Maxi-single entitled "Lay It Down" was released. Radio airplay for the title song on WHOG, the local Urban Music station, followed quickly. Next, their appearance at The Block Party held on July 1, 2000 in Zinn Park during the 8th Annual Juneteenth Heritage Festival in Anniston, showed that D~S~B could hold their own as they hyped-up a crowd of over 1,000 young people who came from all over Northeast Alabama. That August they were selected to perform at the 10th Annual Birmingham Heritage Festival. In October they headlined the WHOG Halloween House Party 2. The original D~S~B sound is produced ...
