The Splendid Nobodies made this great sounding record with Pete Weiss at Zippah Studio in Boston. Strong songwriting shines all over the ten original tunes. Over revved up roots, under back porch soul, a rock and roll heart is beating. Skope Magazine writes, "While their debut recording was loaded with delightful pop ditties, "Strange Trip" finds them offering up more heartfelt songs with thicker textures and even stronger musicianship... The Splendid Nobodies have delved deeper into country roots and rock and roll roots, tracing both genres into their Americana musical history... Authenticity abounds in these tracks, and it sometimes becomes hard to believe the band is from Boston and not Nashville... There is no filler material on "Strange Trip." Every track rocks, stomps, or shuffles along." Upon the release of the band's debut record, the Boston Herald wrote, " The Splendid Nobodies play the hell out of their instruments and songs from their fine new album Coming Back Around ... "Later the Herald placed the disc on a list of 10 Boston records worthy of being heard by a wider audience and described the Nobodies' sound as "equal parts Carl Perkins, the Flying Burrito Brothers and The Rolling Stones." The Noise, a magazine dedicated to covering the rock scene of Boston, also raved about the CD saying, "This is a flat out great disc...punchy and full of life. I can't remember hearing a better sounding local album...The band seemlessly blends elements of rock, country, folk, and bluegrass, and somehow doesn't sound like any of them." The hook laden songs found on Coming Back Around blend acoustic and electric guitars with vocal harmonies. They were recorded and mixed at Boston's Woolly Mammoth Sound with local ace David Minehan (The Neighborhoods) behind the controls. Boston Soundcheck Magazine wrote, ...
