Randy Newman's Faust buy CD music Customer Reviews
As a fan of Newman's sarcasm, I must say that Faust is without a doubt one of his highlights. It combines his ingineous sardonic lyrics with beautiful themes he composed from with a great variaty of styles (from blues to heavy metal to gospel). The original Musical was enchanting enough, but with the add of a complete CD of Newman planning it and recording demos, it makes it a perfect Newman collection.

||Welcome to the world of Randy Newman|
Randy Newman's Faust buy CD music This 2-disc deluxe set brings you a bonus CD with the Faust demos. Though it doesn’t bring anything quite new, that you hadn’t already heard on the original record, it’s an interesting look at how Randy Newman works. This album/show lies somewhere in between his solo albums and his many movie scores. The theme is centered around the story of Faust and as such Newman had to write songs for a stage production – songs that would work out well within the narrow limits of a musical, if that term applies here. But he did a nice job and some of the tracks are stand out cuts. Very sensibly he hired some great performers like Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor & Elton John to sing some of the parts. Newman has a funny view of the world no matter how gloomy the outlook might be. He has that special knack for writing songs that are witty and serious at the same time and this trait is what sets him apart from other singer/songwriters. His latest solo album “Bad Love” is ample proof of his importance as a composer of timeless melodies and clever and sometimes outrageous and amusing lyrics.

||Not one of his best|
Yes I like Randy Newman, but i bought this album to get the songs James Taylor performing. There is a couple of songs that I like, sucha as "Northern boy" "Relax enjoy yourself" & "Bleeding all over the place" I enjoy the bonus-cd much more,even if those songs are demoworks....
