This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by Johnny Vicious.
While the previous volume of the enormously popular CD series ULTRA DANCE featured a selection of tracks by hotshot Euro trance spinner and remix artist DJ Encore, Vol. 3 features two disc's worth of hot dance tracks put together by Johnny Vicious. It's an endlessly percolating smorgasbord of sounds, as eclectic as it is danceable. It's safe to say that when Don Henley recorded his evergreen hit "The Boys of Summer," he never expected the contemplative rock ballad to be turned into a dance smash, but that's exactly what's happened here, as the song is presented in an evocative version by DJ Sammy. More traditional dance fare is offered with such cuts as the Narcotic Thrust mix of Cassius's "Sound of Violence" and the sexy, neo-electro "Sweet Dreams" via Eddie Baez and Effi.

I always liked Johnnny Vicious but the Ultra Dance series is more commercial. If your into very deep house this probably isnt for you. Its more commercial dance/euro house than underground. Its mixed flawlessly though and has a good track selection.

It's Exciting And Intense To Dance/Drive To!!!
I have the Johnny Vicious Ultra Dance 2001 cd set, and I loved it; that's what made me want to get the 2003 set. It's brilliant, and has high-packed, thumping beats, and creative fore-ground and background sound mixes. I like to dance and drive to it; it helps me to keep my mind off the L.A. traffic---Thank you Vicious!!!

The novelty success of Afroman's "Because I Got High" in 2001 was a commercial blessing for the underground rapper, but it wasn't a lasting success. When he returned in 2004 with his follow-up, Afroholic... The Even Better Times, he was no longer signed to Universal and enjoyed none of the benefits provided by major-label backing. He was an independent artist again, which is perhaps for the better (for both the artist and his fans). You see, Afroman is a one-man phenomenon: he writes his own songs, produces and engineers them, and markets them with his own website. He doesn't really need a major label. He can do it all himself, from the studio work to the live touring band he leads, and though he may not get a mass-market media push, he doesn't have to deal with major-label bureaucracy. He can release whatever music he likes, and he gets a much greater slice of the revenues. Such independence is the essence of Afroman and his music -- listening to Afroholic is like stepping into his own private world of warped West Coast rap parody.
