This was a fabulous movie. James Mason did a superb job as Rommel, a brilliant militarist and man of principle. I was filled with admiration for the courage and character of this remarkable man, as portrayed by Mason.

 Victory has many fathers, defeat is an orphan
I first heard these words uttered in this movie by one of the actors, only to be disgusted all these years with idiot journalists left and right attributing it to John F. Kennedy after his lost adventure known as the 'Bay of Pigs' fiasco.
