Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish WWII. The "Blue Max", a coveted medal for achievement in flying, is ruthlessly sought by Peppard, a poor-boy German soldier who climbs out of the trenches and into the aristocratic air force. He is met with prejudice by the other contestants, wealthy snobs who look down upon his low economic stature. When he claims the title, he earns the respect of the General and the General's wife (Andress), who wants to repay him in ways that the General might not appreciate. Peppard, on the other hand, does. Fantastic aerial combat highlights the film, although the scenes between the two lovers don't hurt matters much. Blue Max Movie Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Lost in the Clouds! You can relax with this one! Sit back & watch the aerial action with G Peppard & Ursula at their very best. But the real magic of this is the flying photography! And like Das Boot it's from the German point of view so you'll find yourself getting caught up! Submitted by silver (Costa Rica) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Flying Action An excellent movie because it was filmed with real aircraft, not computer technology. Some of the aircraft are authentic looking replicas, and the colour has that typical 60s technicolour look. This is not a film for those looking for a happy ending, but it is war after all. A true air battle movie When you watch this movie, you forget about all the digital computer generated movies of today. This is trueley a classic for the way it was made. Unfortunatly we need to see a movie of ths calliper to remind us that older movies still have much to teach us, that no matter where we are now with computers, real planes with real dog fight sequences are still the best filmgoing experiece we can watch. $16.35 Richard Burton stars as Major John Smith, a British agent during WWII who is in charge a group of six Allied soldiers given the task of rescuing an American general--who is reportedly in possession of the plans for D-Day--from a seemingly impregnable German fortress located high in the Bavarian Alps. Assisting Smith is the sole American in the operative, Lieutenant Morris Schaffer (Clint Eastwood), a fierce soldier skilled with an array of deadly weapons. As the men penetrate the fortress, facing an endless supply of German soldiers, it becomes apparent that some members of the small Allied team may not be who them seem to be. Blue Max movie DVD
$8.05 With soaring photography that circles from above then swoops in for the action, TROY is Wolfgang Petersen's majestic presentation of the classic Greek legend. It tells the story of an epic battle over Helen (Diane Kruger), the queen of Sparta, who is kidnapped by her lover Paris (Orlando Bloom), the prince of Troy. This infuriates Helen's husband Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), whose brother Agamemnon (Brian Cox) convinces him to invade Troy. They recruit Achilles (Brad Pitt), the best warrior in Greece, whose bravery, quick feet, and remarkable swordsmanship (not to mention tanned biceps, short kilts, and blond locks) have earned him a reputation that is almost as impressive as his ego. Achilles agrees to fight for Sparta, if only for the fame it will bring him. Even Achilles's mother, in a touching scene, advises him to forget mortal achievements and become a hero who will be remembered throughout history. Along with the invasion of Troy, a series of duels must also be fought: Paris, who is heartbreaking in his lovestruck naiveté, must go up against the enraged Menelaus, and Achilles must settle a score with Hector (Eric Bana), who is fiercely dedicated to protecting his brother Paris and their father, the frail king Priam (Peter O'Toole). When the war finally ignites in its massive proportions, ...
