Despite the solo billing on this compilation, these songs are collaborations between drummer/singer Menck and longtime partner Paul Chastain, The duo that later gained fame as Velvet Crush. Originally recorded between 1985 and 1990 and released, on a variety of US and UK indie labels, under the names Choo Choo Train and the Springfields, these 11 songs are archetypal late-'80s indiepop. Menck's breathy, adenoidal voice tops gently strummed electric and acoustic guitars and polite drums.
