Then there were two. With George Harrison's passing in November 2001, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney were the only surviving members of the Beatles. Thankfully, Starr chose to press on in a creative manner rather than exiling himself in grief. The result is RINGO RAMA, the second album the Fab Four drummer has worked on with uber-producer Mark Hudson following 1998's VERTICAL MAN. From the outset, Starr weaves the past with the future, making allusions to "It Don't Come Easy" on "Eye to Eye" and bringing in longtime pal Eric Clapton to solo on the poignant Harrison tribute "Never Without You."
Certain Richard Starkey trademarks bubble up throughout, including his famous sense of humor (the double entendre-laden travelogue "Missouri Loves Company") and his love of country music (a twangy "Write One For Me" featuring Willie Nelson). Ringo's rock royalty status ensures plenty of celebrity guests on RINGO RAMA; Pink Floyd

Ringo Starr Ringo Rama Songs Ringo Rama Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Ringo and friends put together a good home brewed CD Ringo and Mark Hudson have put together a fun, relaxed, well thought through recording. I got chills when I heard Never Without You for George, a loving tribute to a friend. The guest vocals from Timothy B. Scmidt, the Eric Clapton riffs and the Charlie Haden bass lines are awesom. Even Willie Nelson steps in on a track. I think Ringo's muse gets better with age and his sense of humor as seen on the DVD make this an intimate recording at your neighbor's house, garage music updated to the living room :) Submitted by a reviewer (Milford, CT) Was This Review Helpful? Not bad, not bad at all For Ringo, the Beatle who's not really expected to produce anything outstanding, this is a better-than-average effort. Unlike "Vertical Man", which didn't really resonate, George Harrison's death seems to have invigorated Ringo to produce his best solo album since "Ringo" in 1973. The guest stars (including Eric Clapton) don't hurt, either. Nice job! Submitted by a reviewer (Plano, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Love & Peace What can be said? He's back!!!
Some typical Ringo music here, and a few surprises. His tribute to (as he says) John Lennon, Harry Nillson and George is superb; very reflective of great feindships.
Thanks Ringo!!!! Submitted by a reviewer (Virginia Beach, Va) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A great new CD from Ringo Ringo appears to have put his heart and soul into this great new CD. The selection of songs, all cowritten by Ringo, are a mixture of melodic rock and country rock inspiring fine vocals and "mad drumming" by Ringo, plus some outstanding guest solo guitar work by David Gilmour on two songs, Willie Nelson sharing lead vocal on "Write One For Me" and the inpired guitar work of Eric Clapton on "Never Without You," Ringo's tribute to George Harrison.
This CD is right up there with "Ringo," "Vertical Man" and "Goodnight Vienna" so if you have enjoyed even one song from any of these albums, you will really enjoy "Ringo Rama." Submitted by a reviewer (Gaithersburg, MD) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
