While the SONGS 4 WORSHIP series has established quite a name for itself in the world of praise-and-worship music, anyone thinking they know what to expect from these volumes will be thrown for a bit of a loop by this entry. While the usual spiritual messages are present in the lyrics, those lyrics are sung entirely in Spanish. Even that doesn't tell you quite what to expect though. The more cynically minded might suppose that the SONGS 4 WORSHIP folks were diving head-on into the Latin pop world in some strange crossover attempt, but this is no Ricky Martin-finds-Jesus affair. For one thing, some of the songs are actually sung by non-Latin artists already familiar to fans of this series (Don Moen, for example). And while some of the tunes bear a strong Latin musical flavor, a number of them veer closer to the kind of gospel-pop amalgam found on previous volumes. Consider it one small step for worship music, one giant leap for the SONGS 4 WORSHIP family.

Songs 4 Worship En Espanol: Canta Al Senor CD music
$8.49 When church leaders were accusing heavy metal of encouraging Satanism, Stryper set out to prove that metal and hard rock could be used to promote Christianity. The southern California band was viewed with suspicion by both ministers (who refused to believe that Christianity and metal were compatible) and fellow headbangers -- and yet, Stryper managed to sell ...
| | Andy Griffith I Love To Tell The Story: 25 Timeless Hymns. CD (1996)
Songs 4 Worship En Espanol: Canta Al Senor music CDs
$15.35 With a sterling cast of backing musicians, Griffith sings the songs that have been a part of his life since his boyhood, when he would attend church faithfully and give voice to them with as much sincerity as he does here. The earnestness in his voice attests to the fact that these hymns are no passing fancy for Griffith. Listening to him sing these songs of devotion, there can be little doubt that he is a true believer.

Songs 4 Worship En Espanol: Canta Al Senor songs
$11.29 JARS OF CLAY was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album.
Jars of Clay approach progressive Christian music from a refreshing angle, mixing a simple acoustic folk sound with a hip-hop beat and decidedly un-preachy yet powerfully religious lyrics. Vocalist Dan Haseltine imbues lines like "They say that I can walk on water/If I would follow and believe/ With faith like a child," with palpable sincerity and a charismatic vocal style. Particularly strong are the two tracks produced by Adrian Belew, an eccentric guitarist who's worked with David Bowie, Peter Gabriel ...
| | Speech Hoopla CD (1999)
Songs 4 Worship En Espanol: Canta Al Senor album
$13.99 Three years in the making, Speech's second album finds the former Arrested Development frontman still working through his roots-centric vision of hip-hop. More Stevie Wonder than Silkk the Shocker, Hoopla incorporates much laid-back session material and even a few live-and-on-stage jam sessions, right in line with hip-hop's growing affection for building songs from the groove up with live musicians. Thankfully, his relaxed rapping style shows little influence from any recent developments in the rap world, and it's always right in line with the material he's performing. It could have been a remarkable comeback record, but Hoopla suffers from several bizarre miscues. Speech remakes the consistently annoying 4 Non Blondes hit "What's Up" for his own track, titled "The Hey Song." To give him credit, Speech rebuilds the song with a female R&B chorus instead of just sampling the original, but that hardly makes it any less grating. The ...
| | Randy Travis Worship & Faith CD (2003)
Songs 4 Worship En Espanol: Canta Al Senor CD music
$10.29 Randy Travis was a charter member of the coterie of country artists that earned the term "New Traditionalists" in the 1980s, and he's remained true to that appellation ever since. Consequently, an album full of religious material, which might have turned into an overproduced affair in lesser hands, turns out to be a tasteful, pleasingly economical outing, based around simple, organically acoustic arrangements and plainspoken-but-heartfelt vocal performances.
It's clear from the outset--with a jazzed-up, Western-swing-style version of "He's My Rock, My Sword, My Shield"--that the listener ...
