 Mulligan swings the 40's/50's
Disc 1 of this 2 disc set (recorded 1946 to 1952) features GM as arranger and sideman with Krupa and others, making great big band music but really you cannot pick him out as a performer. As the disc proceeds he becomes progressively more 'visible' through swinging sessions with Miles Davis and Kai Winding groups and others. Disc 2 - Gerry opens up the Bop/Swing box with his own varied groups and co-players to include popular Mulligan/Baker 4-tet 'standards' plus other driving scores. Well worth the price with good liner information.
