Starring Michael Wong, Cherry Chan, Hugo Ng, Gabriel Harrison, Tim Shaw, Angela Tong and Ng Ting. Produced by Wynn Lau. Directed by Yeung Chi Kin. Maggie lives with an abusive and cheating husband. She leaves him to stay with her friend and her husband who is a pimp. The pimp soon puts Maggie to work as a prostitute. Disillusioned Maggie turns to drugs and gambling. Hoping to make a better world for herself she runs away from the evil...but her new found freedom doesn't last long as she is soon captured by her friend's husband and his cruel henchmen. Teaching Maggie a lesson in obedience they start they torture her in most unusual and sadistic ways. Based on a sadistic crime that shocked all of Hong Kong, THERE'S A SECRET IN MY SOUP was inspired by the same events as the similar horror drama HUMAN PORK CHOP. The police are investigating a murder after a grisly discovery is made: a skull tucked inside a plush Hello Kitty doll. They determine that it belonged to Maggie, a prostitute who ran afoul of a group of drug-addled gangsters. As the police dig deeper into the crime, they discover that Maggie's final days were indeed terrifying, and that she deserved a far better fate than she received. Exploiting true events for a drama of horror and torture, THERE'S A SECRET IN MY SOUP was given the controversial Category III rating (for extreme violence and sex) by the Hong Kong authorities.
