This Victoria, B.C quartet were touted as the new Screamers, in that they use the same unconventional, distinctive set-up, harsh, dominating, creepy synths, pounding drums, wildly screaming vocals, and no guitars (though unlike their L.A. 1977-1981 forebears, Hot Hot Heat utilize a bass). And sure enough, they do bear a certain unconfined animal assault, if not in the primo song material, nor the fierce intellect and subversive humor (that also distinguished the great, late Tomata du Plenty and Co). A recent signing to Sub Pop, this band may well be going places, as there's no denying their abrasive, no-holds-barred aggression. Whether it's throat-punishing screecher, Matthew Marnik, or the flagitious mastery of keyboardist Steve Bays, these songs are designed to make you feel uncomfortable and crazed, and they succeed well. This LP even made the cat run out of the room! You might soon follow. This stuff is pretty depraved (and great at the same time), but one can only take so much. ~ Jack Rabid

Now these hard to find gems can be found on Scenes One Through Thirteen finally available to the masses.

| Scenes One Through Thirteen Music Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews I used to like Hot Hot Heat because of these songs When I first discovered Hot Hot Heat years ago I thought they were sweet. Now they make dancy crap-pop. This album is full of unique synth punk that rocks, a far cry from their current sickening offerings. Like some of the other reviews, I am in full agreement that this album doesn't sound anything like the HHH you hear on the radio--but that's a good thing. I'm glad they re-released this stuff. Not worth the money I didn't like this album at all..
I wasn't even sure if this was Hot Hot Heat when I got it..I hated it. The sound quality is so bad. And the vocalist makes me want to rip out my ear drums. Steve Bays is so much better. Don't waste the money on this. Submitted by Kaitlin (Sotuh Dakota USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
different, but good! when i bought this i didnt' expect it to sound like it ended up sounding. but sometimes surprise is a good thing. I'll admit it took me a few listens for each song before i really liked it, but once you've heard each song a time or two they really do grow on you. And it's not like the hot hot heat nowadays, theres a different singer, but still this is a good album. Submitted by ranndom247 (San Jose, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Love It I love this album, and sometimes poor quality makes a record sound really cool..like the White Stripes. And Matty's screaming is perfect, although it's true their other albums are better. Submitted by Nikki (Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$13.95 It's appropriate that the first ever Nirvana tribute album was recorded by a collection of punk bands whose combined record sales probably don't equal that of In Utero. After all, Nirvana's influences were largely D.I.Y., and the band always seemed to have a great deal more in common with Flipper than Pearl ...

Scenes One Through Thirteen CD music
$5.99 Although commercially successful, Chicago's previous long-player, Chicago VI (1973), had not been received as warmly from both the critics as well as from some bandmembers. Both parties expressed their dissatisfaction with the lighter fare and significantly shorter material. In response, the combo briefly returned to their previously tried and true methodology on their follow-up album. As such, Chicago VII (1974) was not only a double LP, but much of the effort likewise returned them to their former jazz/rock glory while continuing the middle-of-the-road (MOR) ethos that was concurrently impacting the pop charts. ...

Scenes One Through Thirteen songs
$18.99 Growing up in the small farming community of Wasco, California, Victor dreamed of being a performer. His parents, first generation immigrants from Mexico, listened to Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Buck Owens. But that was only when they weren't singing along with the hypnotic rhythms of Latin artists. As he grew up, those early twang and stomp influences were spiced with Victor's love for the smooth vocals of George Strait and the energy of Garth Brooks. Victor chased his dream by playing county fairs and clubs. He rarely sang cover tunes, opting for his own original material. He was a good performer. People liked his songs. He was charismatic. He was persistent. He even convinced Buck Owens' Buckaroos to play on his first ever demo session at the age of 19. His band, "Prairie Thunder" opened up for Collin Raye, Sammy Kershaw, Lee Roy Parnell, and Merle Haggard. Still, he didn't get the break he was looking for. Victor was always a really good singer, and everybody told him so. He just wasn't a great singer. So he did something about it. "When I started taking voice lessons, I just couldn't believe the change," Victor says. "Just learning how to breathe correctly gave me so much more control over my voice, so much more power. I just feel a lot more confident, and it's a lot more fun." So with the turn of the century came the turn of the corner for Victor Sanz. His first album titled "Destination Unknown" was released in early 2000. The album was ...
