(5 Customer Reviews)
The sophomore album from Ice Cube, THE PREDATOR, picks up where his debut, AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED, leaves off. Ice Cube uses his killer rap delivery to full effect on funky cuts like "Now I Gotta Wet' Cha" and "We Had to Tear This Motherf**ker Up" in a way that few other MCs can. Benefiting from the contributions of a crew of producers that includes Sir Jinx, DJ Muggs, and DJ Pooh, THE PREDATOR is a vibrant collection of cuts that were created during the L.A. uprising of the early '90s. Ice Cube had been rhyming about the prejudice and social injustices of the L.A. police for years, producing the kind of reality-based material on THE PREDATOR that is clearly an example of life imitating art. Classic tracks from the album include "It Was a Good Day" and "Wicked." THE PREDATOR also has a cool cut called "Check Yo Self," which features Das EFX.

Riot This album was released not long after the LA riots and it is clearly obvious. The riots re-inspired Cube and the westcoast in a lot of ways, and the subject matter and energy of this album is boosted by the emotions of that event. Cube was angry before this CD, but he is spitting fire on this release. Submitted by Nod Nek (Brisbane, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Predator album
$11.39 Once a member of N.W.A., Ice Cube has consistently put out hits and, throughout his music and film career, has remained admired by the hip-hop community. Rough and rugged, but true and to the point, only Ice Cube can address certain issues facing black, urban America, and he does just that on DEATH CERTIFICATE.
DEATH CERTIFICATE is co-produced by Ice Cube with the help of The Boogie Men and Sir Jinx, and the beats they come up with are hard, funky and fast, resembling Cube's own energy. George Clinton's "Atomic Dog" is revived through "My Summer Vacation" and, along with Cube's threatening lyrics, gives the track a funky, gangsta-party appeal. Ice Cube sums up his values and way of life on the single, "Steady Mobbin'": "Bustin' caps in the mix/Rather be judged by twelve than carried by six." "Look Who's Burnin'" is a story on the results of sexually-transmitted diseases; and though the lyrics are harsh, the song relays a positive message of the need to practice safe sex. In "True To The Game," Ice Cube lets all sell-outs know that there's no room in his world for those who crossover.

| | Ice Cube Lethal Injection CD (1993) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Predator CD music
$9.99 In 1993, Ice Cube released his third solo album, LETHAL INJECTION. By this time, the dominance of the West Coast rap scene had started to fade, as East Coast hip-hop artists like the Wu Tang Clan and the Notorious B.I.G. started to pull listeners away from the left coast. Hanging tough, Ice Cube released another masterful performance with LETHAL INJECTION. Tracks like "You Know How We Do It" and "Ghetto Bird" are deep-rooted in the classic West Coast sound and bounce. Filled with funk and smooth synth pads, LETHAL INJECTION is an album sometimes overlooked in the lengthy career of Ice Cube. Check out "Bop Gun (One Nation)," on which funk master George Clinton himself makes an appearance. Some of the album's other excellent tracks include ...

Predator songs
$15.39 Although Tupac Shakur had already released one solo album after leaving Digital Underground, it was 1993's STRICTLY 4 MY N.I.G.G.A.Z. that cemented his place in the hip-hop universe. A more musically diverse and lyrically heavy album than 2PACALYPSE NOW, this set included some of Tupac's sharpest writing yet. In particular, the singles "Papa'z Song" and "Keep Ya Head Up" were early proof of the rapper's more sensitive and thoughtful side, while "Souljah's Revenge" and "Point The Finga" addressed the state of the hip-hop nation in the wake of the anti-gangsta controversies of the previous three years. Musically, the album is of a piece with the stripped-down retro-funk style that Dr. Dre was turning ...

Predator album
$10.59 As one of the MCs in the classic crew NWA, Ice Cube made a name for himself at an early age, helping to pioneer West Coast hip-hop. Ironically though, Cube's debut solo album, AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED, is deep-rooted in fast-paced tracks that are reminiscent of the East Coast sound that help define Public Enemy. In fact, it was the Bomb Squad who produced most of the album. Tracks like ...
