Closed Captioned Sydney Pollack directs this wonderful star-driven romp. Robert Redford plays Norman "Sonny" Steele, a former rodeo star who winds up working in a demeaning job in Las Vegas for a massive corporation, AMPCO. Sonny learns that his employer has purchased a $12 million racehorse as part of a merger. To protect the horse from being drugged with tranquilizers and generally mistreated, he steals it, freeing both himself and the horse. This sparks the curiosity of savvy broadcast journalist Alice "Hallie" Martin (Jane Fonda), who follows after him. Soon Fonda catches up to Redford and discovers the personal and political logic behind his choice to return the horse to its native grazing land far from the clutches of corporate greed. Aware that Sonny's wishes for the horse are the same ones he has for himself, she falls for him. The film is packed with beautiful scenery in remote western settings. Released theatrically in the USA December 21, 1979.
Filmed on location in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Okay, I respect your position. I don't understand it, but I respect it. A lot of famous people hated publicity. Albert Schweitzer. Franco...Albert Schweitzer."--Hallie (Jane Fonda) to Sonny (Robert Redford)
Electric Horseman Reviews: "...[An] invigorating new comedy that is acted to the nines by a fine cast, in particular by Robert Redford..."

| | Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail DVD (2009) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Electric Horseman film
$14.65 Multitalented screenwriter, director, playwright, and actor Tyler Perry delivers yet another comedy feature from his popular MADEA film series. Largely concerned with African American family life, Perry splits his efforts between the outrageous Madea films and other, slightly more serious features such as 2008’s THE FAMILY THAT PREYS. As the name suggests, MADEA GOES TO JAIL, based on the 2006 play of the same title, once again stars Perry himself as Mabel B. Simmons (nicknamed Madea), the feisty, gun-loving grandmother audiences have adored on stage and screen since she first appeared in the 2002 play MADEA’S FAMILY REUNION. When Madea ends up in jail following a series of violent outbursts, she finds herself in equally eccentric company and causes chaos among her fellow inmates. In a fat suit and women’s clothing, Perry keeps things light while exploring signature themes of redemption, such as the young attorney (Derek Luke, NOTORIOUS) who sets out to help a prostitute (Keshia Knight Pulliam, THE COSBY SHOW) who holds a special place in his heart.

| | Divine Intervention DVD (2003)
Electric Horseman video
$9.75 DIVINE INTERVENTION writer-director Elia Suleiman has been compared to Woody Allen and Charlie Chaplin, presumably because he has Allen's intelligent, self-deprecating humor and Chaplin's gift for silent comedy. DIVINE INTERVENTION is not a silent film, but an intensely quiet comedy about daily life in the West Bank and Israel. Suleiman provides a series of not-altogether-related vignettes of people choked with boredom and drained of compassion, such as an angry mob of adolescents stabbing Santa Claus, or the neighbor who throws garbage onto the property next door (and complains when its thrown back), or checkpoint soldiers who sing and dance, and look menacing doing so. Though there is no distinct protagonist in this atypical satire, the filmmaker plays himself returning to Nazareth to help his ailing, hospitalized father (Nayef Fahoum Daher). Between visits to the hospital, where ...
