Trying to describe what I do is difficult, but the music itself is easy to understand so I recommend heading there next (or first.) The songs I write are for getting in touch with feelings, making sense of life, and getting through tough or confusing situations. My music is my life, it's the things inside my head and heart. I have been writing music and songs for some time now; since the seventh grade, in fact. I had piano lessons for a while when I was little, but I really depend on sound (not knowledge, haha) when I write. My music was a secret between me and a friend until 2004, but not so anymore, which is great. I'm happy to be sharing some of myself with the world. I appreciate your interest and hope you take a moment to check out the sound/website. Thanks.

Audio Mixer: Pierre Marchand. Photographer: Kharen Hill. During the mid-'90s, Sarah McLachlan was a near-ubiquitous presence in pop music, establishing adult alternative pop radio with 1994's Fumbling Toward Ecstasy and 1997's Surfacing and spearheading the popular Lilith Fair touring festival, but once the last Lilith wound up in 1999, she retreated from the spotlight, had a baby, and seemingly retired from music. Four years later, she made a typically subdued return with Afterglow, her first album in six years. Not much has changed in the time she was away. Afterglow is firmly within the McLachlan signature sound -- a softly tuneful, mildly atmospheric blend of classic singer/songwriterism and a touch of vaguely dreamy alternative pop, all shined and immaculately produced by Pierre Marchand. Prior to its release, the album was touted as the first collection of songs she wrote entirely on piano, not guitar, but ultimately this doesn't make much of a difference to the overall feel and effect of the album, which perfectly dovetails with Surfacing. At times, the pacing is so languid and the production so open-ended, the album kind of drifts away, but it's not only in a pleasant fashion; it's also no different than its immediate predecessor, which also could meander. In other words, after a prolonged absence, Sarah McLachlan re-emerges with a record that could have followed Surfacing by six months, not years. Some may call that predictable, some may call it reliable, but there's little arguing that Afterglow is a solid effort -- it won't win new fans, but it will certainly satisfy the old ones. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine In the six years between Sarah McLachlan's 1997 outing, SURFACING, and 2003's AFTERGLOW, much happened to the Lilith Fair founder on both personal and global levels. McLachlan's daughter India was born months after the death of her mother, and, of course, there were the ripple effects of the 2001 terrorist attacks. All are addressed throughout these 10 songs, which are ensconced in the ethereal swaddling of subtle piano, acoustic guitars, and lQ (3/04, p.107) - 3 stars out of 5 - "McLachlan's gorgeous voice has always been her strength..." Afterglow offers a comfortable return of Sarah McLachlan Sarah McLachlan returns from a 6 year hiatus with a new album that brings back the thought provoking and angelic voice that characterizes McLachlan. The album is aptly named, because after listening to this new release, I did have a content glow. It certainly is a Sarah album, but some small changes mark the artistic growth--it's hard to say it's her best album, but it certainly ranks right up along with the rest of them. "At last she comes back" I have been waiting for so long for sarah mclachlan to come out with a new cd and she finally did. She is my all time favorite artist ever. I really do think though that it's not her best work. Especially since we all know what shes capable of with albums like surfacing and fumbling but yet its still good. She did however come back with a new fresh sound and delivered some really great songs. The ones that stand out the most are: Fallen, Drifting, and Answer, they seem to talk to u on a personnal level. And any music that she makes is always worth buying. =) Submitted by Dreams_come_true_1999 (Miami, FL. /USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Mostly perfect effort After the long wait, Sarah returns! I will say that this album blew me away and also let me down. When I first heard "Fallen" on the radio, I thought this was the return of another masterpiece album, but it fell short. Only 10 songs! Only 7 of which are amazing, and the remaining 3 sound like typical b-sides or album filler. It's well worth the purchase for certain songs such as "Stupid", "Train Wreck" and of course "Fallen", but you will most likely find yourself skipping a few tracks during the listen. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the goddess, this just isn't the best of her releases, but it's better than most artists around today! Submitted by Evelyn (Michigan, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Major Disappointment After the brilliance of Surfacing, this is a major disappointment. Apart from Fallen, which I have to say is brilliant, this is bland, generic, boring, put-you-to-sleep music. Try again, please Sarah! Go back to Surfacing... Submitted by michael.dobrofsky (Los Angeles, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
