From the weird name, as well as song titles like "Yellow Cave Woman" and "Plastic Man," you'd expect something a little more interesting than routine late-'60s British psychedelia. However, that's what you get on this rarity, from a group which gave more prominence to heavy organ riffs than the typical outfit of the era. There's no gripping vision or focus -- "Yellow Cave Woman" is a basic riff and lyric that keeps on going for several interminable minutes without variation; "Come Away Melinda" is an odd hard rock cover of the anti-war folk tune; "Owed to the Dip" is a long formless organ instrumental; and "New York Mining Disaster 1941" a strange, pointless Bee Gees cover. The album meanders so directionlessly that it is kind of weird, but in a boring way. [The 2003 CD reissue has a bonus track, "Telstar '69."] ~ Richie Unterberger

WOW!!!This is killer heavy UK psych that is essential, a must have for any fan of psychedelic music. Fantastic guitar work, over the top organ, outstanding vocals and a stellar production. Nearly every track is a winner, excellent covers and originals. The best tracks on the cd are 'yellow cave woman, 'within the night', 'owed to the dip' and 'plastic man'. I highly recommend this cd.

Finally available again on CD (This was actually released years ago by See for Miles Records/England...way out of print!). An instant classic of late 60's Heavy, Trippy UK Psychedelic music.
Killer Fuzz guitar and swirling Hammond Organ for fans THE ATTACK, ANDROMEDA, ARZACHEL, JULY etc. The newly Remastered sound quality is top-notch! The Bonus track "Telstar '69" is taken from the A-Side of their only single. Stand out tracks are "Yellow Cave Women" with its drugged out pounding rythms and burning Fuzz guitar. Mind-blowing covers of The BEE GEES "NY Mining Disaster" and Tim Rose's "Come way Melinda" easily surpass the originals. There are a few tracks (like "Wizard of Gobsolod") that are pure UK Pop/Psych but still sound great! Great In-depth liner notes finally shed some light on this obscure band. Over all this is a MUST OWN for fans of Psychedelic Rock.

Due to various legal troubles, Mac Dre didn't have the opportuntity to deliver a full-fledged follow-up to his second album, Young Black Brotha, until 1998 -- five years after YBB was released. The resulting record, Stupid Doo Doo Dumb, doesn't quite live up to its predecessor, mainly because it's missing the production of Khayree. His replacements, K Lou, Funk Daddy and Johnny Z, are all fine, but lack his distinctive spark. Nevertheless, they provide Mac Dre with a serviceable backdrop for his coolly funky West Coast hardcore hip-hop.
