Featuring the booming lead voices of Clarence Fountain and Louis Dicks, the Five Blind Boys of Alabama roar through a dozen passionate tunes here in trademark hard gospel style. Only the twist of a lyric away from being straight secular soul, Fountain and company shine on the joyous and loping "Jesus on My Mind" and deliver a completely sanctified version of Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Listeners looking for a historical retrospective of the group's 50-year career should probably pass this one by, but for a straight-ahead set of deep soul gospel with no frills or fills, look no further.
