Comedy about a dentist who gets mired in the bizarre intrigues of his daughter's soon-to-be father-in-law, who claims to be a CIA agent. In THE IN-LAWS, Peter Falk plays a crazy CIA agent--or is he just crazy?--who meets his son's father-in-law-to-be, Alan Arkin, a respected New York City dentist, just days before their children are supposed to wed. One tangling mishap after another thrusts the two parents together as they take flight in a mad caper that includes counterfeiting, shootouts, and a South American leader who thinks he's Señor Wences. The nonstop hilarity also includes Nancy Dussault, Penny Peyser, Michael Lembeck, Ed Begley Jr., the fabulous Richard Libertini, and a wild-haired David Paymer as the cabdriver. This underrated buddy comedy is a gem from start to finish. Additional cast members include Sammy Smith, Barbara Dana, Rozsika Halmos, Alvaro Carcano, Jorge Zepeda, Sergio Calderon and David Paymer.
Composer Carmen Dragon plays himself in the film. In-Laws Quotes/Excerpts: "I'm the classic agency type--compact, low to the ground."--Vince Ricardo (Peter Falk)

In-Laws Movie Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Much Better Than The New One This film is much better than the 2003 remake. Classic comedy Submitted by amahan (Philadelphia, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Comedic Classic The In-laws is a comedic classic! It is as funny now as it was 25 years ago. Peter Falk and Alan Arkin are masters of the trade. This movie, and it's brilliant cast, will have you laughing from start to finish... and there's a good amount of action too... chases on foot, chases in cars, and a whole lot of being shot at. One of the best least known, funniest movies ever. There is a new version out with Michale Douglas, but I doubt it can appooach the multi levels of Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. You have to listen to the lines and imagine you are in the room. There are classic lines such as "serpentine", and "I am a dentist." Combine them with the situation and you will laugh till it hurts. | | One Night At Mccool's DVD (2001) Widescreen
In-Laws video
$16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outré toupee. His story of how Jewel led him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored by Carl talking to his therapist--played with a delicious verve by Reba McEntire, and Detective Dehling talking with a priest; each telling their own stories of obsession with Jewel. Tyler is clearly beautiful, but it's the evil, ...

$9.85 Blake Edwards's return to the male-in-meltdown territory he explored in 10 and THAT'S LIFE stars John Ritter as unemployed writer Zach, who is not only suffering from writer's block, but his drinking is out of control, as is his obsessive womanizing, and, not surprisingly, his wife wants to end their marriage. To add to his problems, his house has just burned down, and his agent is knocking at death's door. But since this is a Blake Edwards comedy, Zach has enough charm and relative affluence to continue his pursuits, which the director regards with a bemused deatchment. One of his girlfriends sets his piano on fire, and another gets him to wear a glow-in-the-dark condom, allowing him to engage in a condom duel with her jealous, similarly clad rock-star boyfriend. Eventually, Zach turns to fatherly bartender Barney (Vince Gardenia), who ...
| | Don Juan (Or If Don Juan Were A Woman) DVD (1973) Subtitled
In-Laws review
$15.09 The legendary and mythic tale of lecherous seducer Don Juan, a character represented in the work of Mozart, Molière and Lord Byron, among others, is given new life in Roger Vadim's 1973 camp classic DON JUAN (OR IF DON JUAN WERE A WOMAN). Brigitte Bardot gives an icily self-assured and erotically charged last performance in her farewell film as Jeanne, the feminine incarnation of the Spanish ladykiller, only this time she is a man-eating, devil-may-care Parisian socialite who lives in a glamorous tinsel-ensconced submarine moored on the Seine. The film is structured as a string of flashbacks of Jeanne's misdeeds and misadventures, all told in a desperate and forbidden lust-tinged confession to her priest, who also happens to be her handsome young cousin. Tales of callously destroyed lives, illicit liaisons, Swedish orgies, lesbian flings, and other caprices leading to suicide pepper Jeanne's memories and refract the legend of Don Juan through the mirror of the sexual liberation of the 1970s. Bardot's beauty and magnetism and Vadim's idiosyncratic vision of love and romance combine to create a campy yet compelling contemporary antimorality tale not unlike Vadim's ...
