Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English John Wayne is a Texas Ranger in this rollicking, good humored western, assigned to bring an arms-running gang to justice. After Wayne arrests one of the criminals, matters are complicated when they wander into an area controlled by the Comancheros: a group of Anglos aiding the warring Comanche Indians. Based on the novel by Paul I. Wellman, THE COMANCHEROS was the last film for director Michael Curtiz (CASABLANCA). Shot in CinemaScope.
The battle sequences were directed by Cliff Lyons.
Some outdoor locations were filmed in Moab, Utah.

Comancheros Movie Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) One of Wayne's best This one has all the stuff that made the westerns fun, cowboys, Indians, and comedy and not to be taken too serious.
Typical for John Wayne fans that love his stuff. One of my favorites that I've probably seen at least 36 times and will keep watching it. The great ones never grow old, the movies or the actors. Submitted by Reedbigdogs (Black Creek, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Fun and entertaining This is a great Sunday Morning Movie, a classic J. Wayne's, that I never saw while young, but it's one that tells you why Wayne has been one of the most beloved caracters in Hollywood; outspoken, charming and very human. A very nice fellow that will always keep the american way. I liked it when he calls "mansur" to the refined "monsieur" he teams with, in his battle against the comancheros. Well in the top 10 worst movie ever With a couple of good one liners and a little bit of action john Wayne pulls of yet another dismal performance, it may be a bit harsh but this is a movie for old timers that cant let go of the past and still love there Cowboy and Indian movies or cant accept the fact that The Duke Cant act. It would have been better if Lee Marvin was the main actor and didn't die early in the piece for he provided some comical relief and a bit of caracter to the film Submitted by rgl911 (Newcastle, Austraila) Was This Review Helpful? $6.99 Frank Pierce (Bruce Cabot) is a ruthless man bent on manipulating the cattle business towards his own wealth and prosperity. When Taw Jackson (John Wayne), an honest rancher, interferes with his plans, Pierce imprisons him and confiscates his gold-filled land. Escaping the prison, Taw plans a raid on Pierce's heavily guarded pay roll carriage, but not if Pierce has anything to say about it. After assembling a group of misfits and hired guns, Taw runs into serious opposition when he encounters the madcap gunslinger, Lomax (Kirk Douglas). Sent by Pierce to stop the raid, Lomax winds up taking a liking to Taw, and they decide to join forces and stage a raid on Pierce's WAR WAGON.
Famous for its fighting scenes between John Wayne and Kirk Douglas, WAR WAGON is quintessential of its genre. WAR WAGONS features astonishing stunts and pyrotechnics. Advanced for its time (it was released in 1969) one would think Kennedy produced it in the mid '70s. The climactic end scene which pits Douglas and Wayne against a Gatling gun has spawned similar scenes ...

$8.59 Howard Hawks's final film once again teams him with John Wayne, with a script by Leigh Brackett (who also wrote his EL DORADO and RIO BRAVO). The time is just after the end of the Civil War. Wayne is Union Colonel Cord McNally, who is teamed with two Confederate soldiers he captured during the war in order to take down a thieving bootlegger. Their travels take them to a small town being held in terror by an evil Sheriff. McNally and his crew decide to help the townspeople with their own brand of justice. With a considerable amount of humor and Hawks's reliable formula in which a motley band of men unite for a common cause, RIO LOBO is a fitting conclusion to ...
