This impressive double disc captures Concrete Blonde's visit to Brazil during 2002. Mixed at the source with the album release in mind, the sound quality is, as you'd expect, quite snappy. There are no fallouts and the audience is large and enthusiastic between songs, only occasionally looming into the band's action, as they do on the melancholy bite of "Caroline," which apparently is a singalong favorite in Brazil. But still, Live in Brazil is clean dirt, grungy and edgy -- just what listeners want Concrete Blonde to be. Still blistering with the spirit of Patti Smith that hovers barely behind its own brand of post-punk crunch, the band blisters through 18 songs, here rendered as one seamless, flawless set. From the snarl of "Valentine" and the rockabilly jangle of "Tonight" to a well-received if patchy version of their only American pop hit, "Joey," the first disc lacks little, and sets the scene for the songs that unravel across the second part, where the bass beat of "Days and Days" gives way to Johnette Napolitano's Jackass-stuttered intro to what is ascribed as the band's George Bush tribute, "Violent." Throughout, the members of Concrete Blonde prove they can still bite as well as the best of them. Ultimately, Live in Brazil is a delicious trip through time, a raucous romp that brings back some truly inspired memories of the wild and willful years of the band's early-'80s heyday. ~ Amy Hanson

| | Monsieur Leroc Le Slow Motion Boogie Woogie CD (1999)
Live In Brazil music CDs
$11.85 German DJ/producer Monsieur Leroc's debut album is a smooth, funky combination of various late-20th century musical idioms. Combining acid jazz, hip-hop, dub, and downtempo in equal doses, LE SLOW MOTION BOOGIE WOOGIE is an exact description of the type of music Leroc makes. Staying away from downtempo's often-easy slide into grey, depressed regions, Leroc keeps his music sultry, occasionally kinky, and always melodic.
Leroc borrows heavily from jazz as a compositional element, aping the improvisation sequence of each instrument having its say, as on the track "Jazzz." Bachelor pad music surfaces on "Une Boogie Pour Faye," and "I Think I," one of the album's most interesting tracks, steals a vocal scat and electric guitar riff straight out of post-SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER 1970s FM radio. For all intents and purposes, "I Think I" could be the "Pina Colada Song" of the future: equal parts cheese and sincere longing, played out over a thumping bassline.
By blending massive amounts of jazz, funk, R&B, stuff from the 1960's/70's, and some cool old guitar rock, Monsieur Leroc's electro -hip hop - euro - soul - head trip surfaces in the U.S. and is made available for the first time as a domestic release by Cornerstone R.A.S.The funk flavored ethereal sounds of Monsieur Leroc are the sonic equivalent of tapping into the Pythagorean "music of the spheres". Listening to Le Slow Motion Boogie Woogie is like visiting a funk filled Heaven - a perfect place to have an "out of body experience."Monsieur Leroc makes his way from Highmshighm, Germany - somewhere near the Black ...

And after serving an 18-month sentence, he often refers to as a vacation; P.A. committed himself to perusing his childhood dream of becoming a legendary hip-hop artist. As an artist P.A. has developed an incredible commercially appealing sound that still manages to reflect hints of his experiences in the streets. This gives P.A. the potential of creating the same kind of commercial success as a Fat Joe, Fabulous, or even a Jay-Z.His image is the personification of his sound and ...

As any '60s pop aficionado worth his/her salt can tell you, the oft-overlooked Bee Gees were musical visionaries on a par with the Beatles, but until the 2001 arrival of this two-disc anthology, their legacy has been ill-treated. Short of buying the box set, previous hits collections made you choose between the brothers Gibb's ...
| | Ed Mind On Hill CD (2007)
Live In Brazil CD music
$16.45 ED is a rock noise band from Tel Aviv, Israel. It all began in 2003 as a recording project of David Blau. Blau recorded his songs to an EP combining soft and intimate lyrics and high-fi sound and production. Around these materials a band was formed which back then included: Yonatan Birenbaum (guitarist of 'Beggars Change' and a Performing classic guitar virtuous) on bass, drummer Guy Shechter (Kruzenshtern & Parohod, Flying Baby, Monotonix, Superdrive) guitarist Zoe Polanski and Blau on Guitar and vocals. After releasing a short EP in the Tel –Aviv indie label PIT/KIT (2005) guitarist and singer Tamar Aphek ('The Homesix', producer of the first of its kind indie festival 'Hutzmize' at the north of Israel) replaces Polanski and joined the band. Recruiting the new guitarist/vocalist, ED quickly shifted into a two writer's band. Changes in the band quickly drove ED into non-stopping work and dedication and the new group had evolved deeper into heavier sound, writing new materials, gathering much experience performing around Israel and touring Europe. These days, ED is releasing their debut album "Mind on Hill" through PIT/KIT records (Israel) and will be supporting the album with a November European tour. The guitars on the album range from waves of noise and feedbacks to complex and gentle riffs. David's rugged and impulsive singing varies from untamed rage to dreamy mumbles, while Tamar's singing is melodic, sharp, pleading. This entire package is been held on ...
