30 Inolvidables
$7.99 In 1997, a young and hungry Pukepcia "Trixx" Green looked for a way out of his hardships. Surviving the tragic death of his mother and best friend, Trixx always was an entertainer, and wanted another chance to make a difference. Greentown originally started in Spring of 2001 and was looking for their next star and they saw every thing they needed in Trixx. Trixx is known in the south as one of the prolific rappers in Texas and the south was considered a ready made product. His songs took little time to create and master and since Trixx was already widely known to the show circuit, booking him would be no problem. Greentown established a fan base for Trixx months before the debut of his at the time unfinished "EP" by having him open up for entertainment legends performing in venues across Dallas, Houston, Nebraska and Florida. During the trips Trixx has had the pleasure to meet and perform along side of hip hop icons like Scarface, Mystikal and others. As his release date neared Trixx continued to manage his life as an office working brother, role model, father and entertainer. Trixx worked harder then ever because he felt like he had so much to lose. Now more seasoned, Trixx worked on relationships that would propel him to the next level. Mr. Green has been quoted saying "If it's good music and there's a market for it, then he wants it, It doesn't matter if it's Rap, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Blues, or Latino music". Trixx became one of the highest ...

| | Matisyahu Youth CD (2006) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Australia; United Kingdom
30 Inolvidables
$15.25 Australian pressing of the second major label outing from Matisyahu, a compelling mix of ancient and modern sounds and ideas, features a bonus disc with five additional tracks: 'King Without A Crown' (Mike D Remix), 'Dub Warrior', 'Youth Dub', 'Fire Of Heaven Dub' and 'Spark Seekers'. The album itself has received glowing reviews worldwide and has continued to build his reputation on top of the success of his previous release, Live At Stubbs. Apart from the bonus disc, the original album features 13 tracks including 'Late Night In Zion', Fire Of Heaven/Alter Of Earth', 'Dispatch The Troops' and more for a total of 18 slices of Matisyahu. BMG. 2006.
Personnel: Matisyahu (vocals); Roots Tonic. Following up his much-heralded live album and a prominent guest appearance on P.O.D.'s TESTIFY, Hasidic reggae singer Matisyahu unveiled his major-label studio debut, YOUTH, in early 2006. Primarily produced by Bill Laswell (something of an avant-garde equivalent to Rick Rubin), this 2006 outing finds Matisyahu backed by his LIVE AT STUBBS ensemble (here dubbed Roots Tonic), which can turn on a dime from dancehall to heavy rock. Although labeled by some as a novelty act, Matisyahu presents his unusual musical hybrid with passion, whether charging through the fierce, Bad Brains-like title track or plaintively crooning on the acoustic "What I'm Fighting For" (which strongly recalls Bob Marley's "Redemption Song"), proving that his attempts to reach out and transcend musical and cultural boundaries are, if nothing else, genuine. An orthodox Jew who kicks it dancehall style, ...
| | Jonathan Blanchard Live In Memphis CD (2008)
30 Inolvidables
$12.15 COMMENT: Possessing a voice comparable in depth and richness to the great Paul Robeson, —in the spiritual tradition of an ancient African Griot—creates music that allows his deep, soulfully rich voice to blend naturally with his compelling dramatic instinct. He movingly conveys the poignant words and melodies of the Negro Spiritual in a manner that defies easy pigeon holding, and his unique style—“reminiscent of Al Jarreau, Bobby McFerrin, and Paul Robeson simultaneously”—offers great variety at any musical venue. No one should miss him deftly rifting through Jazz licks, while he masterfully imitates the sounds emanating from a Jazz Band’s instrumental ...
