On The Sunny Side Of The Street music CDs
$14.45 Despite his statement in the liner notes that "In an era where it is best to play it safe, I chose to take a risk...," there isn't much surprising or risky about young guitarist Joe Bonamassa's fifth studio album. Most of his previous releases have mixed blues covers with his own originals, all played with a rocker's attitude, volume and less-than-subtle approach. This one follows suit and even though he goes on to say that he "wanted to make a blues album, not a rock album that has blues on it," as in the past; it's impossible to claim that he has succeeded with You & Me. That doesn't make this a bad or disappointing disc; quite the contrary, it's a solid ...

On The Sunny Side Of The Street album
$6.79 You might mistake this for a live record, but this is actually a 1973 studio release by the Texas blues guitar master. Winter's first release after a brief retirement/drying-out period, STILL ALIVE AND WELL, from the title on down, has the feeling of a major comeback, although Winter really hadn't been gone for very long. Looking hale and hearty on the cover--or ...

| | Shuggie Otis Inspiration Information CD (1974)
On The Sunny Side Of The Street album
$10.95 This is part of LuakaBop's World Psychedelic Classics series.
Ignored upon its release in 1974 and celebrated upon its reissue in 2001, Shuggie Otis' fourth and last album Inspiration Information exists out of time -- a record that was of its time, but didn't belong of it; a record that was idiosyncratic but not necessarily visionary. It was psychedelic soul that was released far too late to be part of any zeitgeist and it was buried at the time. Yet no matter what Luaka Bop's grand poobah David Byrne claims on the sticker -- he says Shuggie's "trippy R&B jams are equal to Marvin's and Curtis', but somehow more contemporary sounding...closer to D'Angelo meets DJ Shadow" -- this isn't revolutionary. It can occasionally sound modern, such as on the rolling head trip "XL-30," but only because it's the kind of groove Shadow would sample and build on; the slow, liquid instrumental head trips sound the same way. Perhaps that's why it can seem more contemporary -- contemporary ears are more attuned to these relaxed, warmly trippy soundscapes. Otis crafted all of this essentially alone, playing each instrument himself, and it's quite clearly a reflection of his inner psyche, and no matter how much it floats and skates upon its own sound, it's a welcoming, inviting sound. But, no matter how much the partisans claim -- and their effusive praise is plastered all over the liner notes, with Sean O'Hagan claiming that it shocks you out of a rut, Stereolab's Tim Gane says it ...

$12.55 This album will keep reggae fans focused on cultural music, it's a remix of the Rythmy Stay At Home song by the late great Dennis Brown for Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson back in 1976. Some of the best reggae artists has work on this album to name a few; Turbulence, Anthony B, Luciano, Sizzla, Capleton, George Nooks, Natural Black, Mickey General and Lady G.Turbulence, the hormonizing deejay has scored hits in the roots and dancehall genres as a solo artist and on duet(with sultry songtress Sasha). His vocal delivery is both passionate and raw as he easily move from conscious tune to love song.Turbulence has won fans and positive press through well crafted live performance. The Hype is Turbulence's title track on this album addressing the fake rasta.Anthony B is an unsung hero of conscious dancehall music. He consistently voices thought provoking hook laden songs that ride the underground of the dancehall mix. Anthony B has developed an international fan base with his impressive live performance and steady touring schedule. He is one of reggae's finest lyricists with sharp and insightful verses that he cleverly weaves into 'thugged out'deejay verses. His intelligence and humor has distinguished him in the crowded deejay field and earned him the respect of producers and selectors alike. Shotta Leroy is his track on this album denounceing the killing and shooting ...
