Wild And Excellent Instros album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin ...

Wild And Excellent Instros songs
$15.75 Although the Poor have been portrayed as a great lost band from the 1960s, the evidence on this short collection, which brings together the four singles they recorded between 1966 and 1968, as well as two singles released by the Soul Survivors, a nascent version of the band, between 1965 and 1966, suggests that the talent certainly was there, but unfortunately not the material. Randy Meisner (who went on to play a key role in both Poco and the Eagles), Pat Shanahan, and Allen Kemp (who both ended up in New Riders of the Purple Sage) were all members of the Poor, and the tracks here show definite potential, with beautiful, high harmonies that fall somewhere between the folk-rock feel of the Beau Brummels and the sunshine pop of the Association. All that was really missing in the mix were some quality songs, and it's telling that a pair of Shanahan compositions, "I Can't Stand to Be in Love with You" and the delicate "Snow Man," ...

Wild And Excellent Instros music CDs
$14.19 The Legendary Me by guitarist Wizz Jones was his third offering released in November of 1970 in Great Britain; it was issued by the Village Thing label run by Ian Anderson (later founding editor of Folk Roots magazine) and Gef Lucena of SayDisc. Jones' guitaristry was trademark, full of blues, old world modes and lyric lines, burning finger-picking, and a sense of humor to go with it all; he is often compared to John Renbourn and Bert Jansch, but he's better than both and is in the same league as the legendary Davy Graham. As for the cuts themselves, the highlights include no less than eight by British artist, and close friend of Jones, Alan Turnbridge, a fine read of Rev. Gary Davis' "Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning," the traditional "Willie Moore," and a single original by Jones, "If Only I'd Known." Jones is a better interpreter than a songwriter, but the off-kilter, semi-ragtime melody is beautiful. "Dazzling Stranger," by Turnbridge -- an earlier version appeared on Jones' 16 Tons of Bluegrass issued on Columbia in 1966 -- and features no less than Ralph McTell on harmonium (he also appears on "When I Cease to Care" playing electric guitar) and is one of the true high points here. So are "Willie Moore," and "Slow Down to My Speed," with vocalist Reanna James on piano. Peter Berryman also contributes to a pair of the album's cuts including the title ...

| | Eric Steckel Feels Like Home CD (2008)
Wild And Excellent Instros album
$16.39 From the road to the stage, a smile on just one faceā¦.it feels like homeā¦..Supported by solid session performances from Duane Trucks on Drums and Mike Esposito on Bass Guitar, āFeels Like Homeā marks another stunning achievement for Eric as the former teen Blues phenom is now a matured guitarist who combines his Bluesy feel with eclectic influences and modern songwriting.............. Music has shaped Ericās life since the day he was born. As a cranky infant he was soothed to sleep by the early 90s sounds of Country Music Television. As he learned to walk his first steps were to the cassette player where his personal favorites were The Allman Brothers and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Childhood piano lessons soon turned into Blues jams and before long he picked up his first Fender Stratocaster. There was no looking backā¦..After sitting in with some of the finest performers in his Pennsylvania hometown, Eric's passion for the Blues enabled him to soon share the stage with many nationally known artists including Bob Margolin, Debbie Davies, James Armstrong, Steve Guyger, Kenny Neal, Chris Beard, Tommy Castro, Joe Kubek, Bnois King, Solomon Burke, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Hubert Sumlin. With a feeling and natural ability that could not be explained for someone so young, Eric delivered a Freddie-BB-Albert King influenced performance with an intensity and skill that belied his youth. The Eric Steckel Band's debut CD, "A Few Degrees Warmer", was recorded live in April 2002 when Eric was a mere 11 years old. A Few Degrees quickly became a CD Baby Top Blues Seller ...
