(7 Customer Reviews)
Presumably tired of high-profile feuds with the likes of hip-hop superstar Nelly and public excoriation of the rap scene in general, the legendary KRS-One gets back to business on KRISTYLES. When you've been around for as long as this former Boogie Down Productions member, you're able to examine the world from an effective vantage point, and that's just what KRS-One does here. Atop visceral but never over-elaborate backing, the hip-hop pioneer combines trenchant philosophical insights with street-real scenarios on tracks that both inform and inspire.

Alternative Press (9/03, p.118) - 4 out of 5 - "...With compelling beats both old-school raw and R&B slick, and rhymes so blunt you can't escape their assault..." The Source (7/03, p.143) - 3 1/2 out of 5 - "...Kris doesn't stray too far from his lyrical exegesis, making KRIS STYLES the album longtime fans have been waiting for and the one where younger, new converts get to see what all the fuss is about..." Kristyles Music Review Average Rating: (3.9 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews DONT BUY THIS... This album isn't the real Kristyles. Koch records released this album without krs-1's permission. HOT DAMN For any one who say this album is bad, they are crazy. this is vintage KRS. he kicks it for all the hip=hop heads, and brings the underground to life. the beats are dope, then lyrics are mad dope. there isnt one rapper in the game that can take out a real hip hopper like KRS. Recognize!!! It is true that this is not the record that Kris intended to release... but that doesn't mean it's still not far more advanced than your average Hiphop CD.
The Kristyle has still not been released, and may not be. Kris has moved on to other projects. He simply advances too quickly to get hung up on one album. This is what we have...
...and it's dope.

This is a fine country record -- no real surprises, just a good balance of that instantly-identifiable, straight-ahead Nashville sound, and some colorful musical touches. Tunes like the catchy "How A Cowgirl Says Goodbye" and the anthemic "One Step Ahead of the Storm" highlight both Lawrence's effective, classic-country baritone, and the fine songwriting of a team headed up by producer Larry Boone. Lawrence really shines on the slower tunes, where he's able to wrap his vocal chords around a strong melody. "In a Moment of Weakness"--a tale of a man who almost falls into romantic temptation, but manages to hold on thanks to a phone call ...

$20.99 Blissful sounds unravel on this 10-track album from chill-out ambient artist Sven Van Hees, with GEMINI designed to let listeners drift off in a sea of musical tranquility.
Don't be scared by the brightly colored digipack and the occasionally ridiculous song titles. This isn't 140-beats-per-minute house or techno for a South American island-of-decadence party. It's beautiful chill-out music for the beautiful chill-out crowd. Connoisseurs of downtempo may be familiar with Sven Van Hees (aka Ramon Serrano) and his single "Tsunami (Inside My Soul)" from such notable compilations as Transatlantik Lounging 2, Comfort Zone 2, ...
