| | Mouse On Mars Glam CD Mouse On Mars Discography of CDs
GLAM contains music composed as a score to the film of the same name. Both the music and film was ultimately rejected by the studio, however the tracks were eventually released by Mouse On Mars as a limited vinyl LP on their label Sonig.
This LP of warm, grubby electronica was originally recorded as the soundtrack to an American film staring Tony "Who's the Boss?" Danza, and finally saw general (if somewhat limited) release in 1998, after it became clear the film would never be completed. Despite the passage of time, however (most of these tracks date from 1993 and 1994), Glam contains some of Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner's most compelling material to date, and listens like a sort of combined laboratory/proving ground for the dauby, impressionistic abstraction later pursued on the 1997 Mouse on Mars LP Instrumentals and by Werner's side project Lithops. The least "genrefied" of Mouse on Mars' already exceptionally itinerant discography, Glam is also wonderfully diverse, mixing tracks containing clamorous, sometimes goofy rhythms with introspective cuts consisting of little more than patterned clicks and raspy, absorbing organ drones. ~ Sean Cooper
Originally available as limited vinyl only, 'Glam' features fifteen densely atmospheric tracks initially composed as a film score for a movie of the same name starring Tony Danza & Ali McGraw. Although the film went straight to video, 'Glam' works as an album of its own, presenting the band's most intricate & subtle compositions. The CD comes with three bonus tracks, 'Snap Bar', 'Pool, Smooth & Bidder' & 'Hetzchase Nailway', not found on the LP. The music alternates from quiet passages of peaceful melody to darker soundscapes & strange noises. There's just enough sonic disturbance to break the quieter moments, just when the listener un-expects it most. Thrill Jockey. 2003.
Contains 3 bonus tracks.

$13.05 On IDIOLOGY, the German electronic duo who brought new meaning to the term "electronic pop" subtly expand the Mouse on Mars sound without abandoning their previously established style. The skittering beats, rubbery electro-basslines ...
| | Boards Of Canada Geogaddi CD (2002)
Glam CD music
$13.45 For their sophomore long-player, reclusive Scots Boards of Canada depart slightly from the rainy-day psyche-tronica of their much-lauded 1998 release, MUSIC HAS THE RIGHT TO CHILDREN. Here the emphasis is as much on beats as atmosphere, but the duo's undeniable genius for conjuring up a sweet nostalgia for futures past still pervades. On "Dandelion," a voice that sounds an awful lot like actor Leslie Nielsen discusses underwater volcanoes in a sample from an old educational film, making what follows seem like the soundtrack to a pleasant science-class nap.
Tracks alternate between short experiments in abstract ambience and longer, more loop-centric ...
| | Boards Of Canada Twoism CD (1995)
Glam music CDs
$13.55 Initially limited to 100 copies on Boards of Canada's own Music70 label, 1995's Twoism EP set a high standard for future BoC output -- though only the few willing to pay silly money for it were able to hear for themselves until Warp quietly reissued it on CD at the tail end of 2002. For those trying to compare it to the full-length debut (Music Has the Right to Children), it holds up surprisingly well (granted, two tracks here were only slightly reworked ...
| | Stephen Malkmus Pig Lib CD (2003)
Glam songs
$10.39 Initial pressings of PIG LIB included a bonus CD including five tracks.
Principally recorded at Bear Creek Studios, Woodinville, Washington between May & August 2002.
For his second solo outing after leaving Pavement, Stephen Malkmus expands his musical horizons a bit from his 2001 solo debut, which basically sounded like an extension of his former band's sound. It's only naturally that Malkmus' work should bear some similarities with the output of his erstwhile group, since he played a major role in fashioning their style, and the non-sequitir lyricism and skewed, angular alt-rock that marked the Pavement style are still strongly in evidence. However, there are other elements at work on PIG LIB.
Mostly, it sounds like noted music geek Malkmus has been listening to esoteric '70s UK outfits like progressive blues-rockers the Groundhogs and folk-rock cult heroes Steeleye Span (or perhaps Fairport Convention). The knotty, stately guitar ...

Glam CD music
$17.49 On his second album--released eight years after the well received INTO THE SUN--Sean Lennon displays a talent for memorable tunes and varied arrangements that create a surprising amount of momentum despite the overall mid-tempo mellowness. Moods shift gently from the unhurried, synth-driven "Parachute" (which echoes Radiohead) to the ragged folk-rock of "Headlights," with its killer off-kilter chord progression, to the haunting "Spectacle," which makes surprisingly ...

| | North Of Grand Cut You Down CD (2006)
Glam CD music
$6.31 Three small town Iowa boys have come a long way from strumming tennis rackets and banging on ice cream buckets. Sean Wilson, Pat Curtis, and Dan Ketelsen make up the Des Moines based punk rock band North of Grand. As a youngster, Curtis dreamed of rock-n-roll glory in Williamsburg while bashing wooden spoons on Schwan's Ice Cream containers. Ketelsen grew up in Redfield, where he frequently appeared on stage (his parent's front porch) dressed as Ace Frehley. Wilson smashed tennis rackets in Monroe, imitating the antics of Pete Townsend. Today, the trio is together in Iowa's state capitol and have released their third CD full of raise your fist in the air rock. North of Grand's latest and greatest independent release is the 7-song EP Cut You Down. The tracks were recorded and mixed over a four day period at Black Lodge Studios in Eudora, KS with producer Nick Day. Black Lodge has released some the most powerful rock albums in the last decade from the likes of Motion City Soundtrack, The Get Up Kids, Ultimate Fakebook, Paw, and Reggie and the Full Effect. NOG's Cut You Down is no exception. It features the band's most stunning material to date and includes a blistering cover of The Groovie Ghoulies' classic 'Carly Simon.' Cut You Down is the closest ...
