Of the many Southern-based "jam bands" that garnered large followings in the wake of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead's untimely demise, Widespread Panic is perhaps the only ensemble to both fully explore the progressive tendencies touched on by contemporaries like Phish and Dave Matthews, and accurately capture the Dead's rootsy, homespun hippy vibe. While Widespread Panic have never equaled the Dead in terms of songwriting, on BALL, the band makes a significant leap forward in this department. WP properly balances its trademark butt-shaking, percussion-fueled Southern boogie grooves with just enough hooks to attract those who generally use the bass solo as an opportunity to hit the concession stand. Fans of the band's jammier side should make sure to check out the hidden bonus track at the end of track 13, which is about as close a musical equivalent to a mellow late-night summer trip as has ever been recorded.

Without a doubt, Juli Maners is a singer/entertainer par excellence. Her beauty and smooth-as-satin vocals have delighted and won fans wherever she's performed.From Indiana originally, Juli was bitten by the "performing bug" at an early age and especially when she became involved with community musical theater productions. She soon realized music was an integral part of her, and something she would just have to pursue as a career. Everyone who heard her sing agreed.While attending college, Juli worked as a jingle vocalist in the Indianapolis area. Her voice has been heard on McDonald's, General Electric, Mayflower Moving, and Pic-N-Pay Shoes. Juli's talents led her to perform at The Little Nashville Opry in Nashville, Indiana, where she was a featured vocalist with the Opry band. While there, Juli met veteran country star Bill Anderson; he was so impressed with her vocal skills that he arranged for her to appear on The Nashville Network's "Nashville Now" show. Anderson also encouraged Juli to Move to Nashville.Since moving to Nashville, Juli has become much in demand as a singer in studios and shows in and around the Nashville area.
