With AC/DC's third release, POWERAGE, the band was dispensing even heftier ammo from their hook-laden cartridge belt. With the rock-steady rhythm section pounding out 4/4 beats as if it were overtaking a small country, guitarists (and brothers) Angus and Malcolm Young trade towering riffs that belie their pint-sized physical stature. The real change on POWERAGE is a noted improvement in songwriting skill. The six-minute "Down Payment Blues" actually has a sense of restraint and building tension, as opposed to the band's usual hit-the-ground running approach.
"Sin City," an ode to Las Vegas, features the band's most colorful lyrics (that don't have to do with bathroom humor, that is) and again displays a dynamic variety not previously heard from the Aussie rockers. The more familiar pounders, "Rock 'n Roll Damnation," "Riff Raff," and "What's Next to the Moon" are tighter, focused bursts of energy that point towards the total mastery of the form the band would display on its next release, HIGHWAY TO HELL.

Their Greatest.. This album really set the mold for what AC/DC was to become. The riffs are heavy as hell, their songwriting was kicked up a notch, and it's just a flat out kick you in the balls rocker. "Riff Raff" is my fave track on here because the song is always busy and moving. And don't forget about the solos!! Angus melts the fretboard in this song. All in all, this is their greatest album and the most overlooked. Submitted by Dennis (Lloydminster, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
Rock Education This is one of the few albums I can say has no bad songs on it, and it swore me in as a Rock and Roll faithful. Listen to it loud and try not to get a sore neck from banging your head! Submitted by TRock (Phoenix, AZ) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

AC/DC at its finest If you like AC/DC (and let's face it: you do), you will love this album. Perhaps AC/DC's best work. Every song on the album has that distinct hard-rocking sound, more so than any other album. I am very impressed by Bon Scott's lyrical talent. It's a shame that he died so young because he would be one of classic rock's most well-known frontmen today if not for his early tragic death. I think my favorite song on the album has to be Riff Raff, though they all have good points. This feels like an uncut or first-run album. It's just hard and fast and loud and brilliant. Definitely listen to it. Submitted by Doug (California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

A just and proper introduction to Kitchens of Distinction would take up enough room to fill out, oh, about four CDs. This is because, in the end, a convincing argument could be made for each album's status as the band's true best. This disc, Capsule: The Best of KOD 1988-94 -- no doubt a hair-splitting one to piece together -- does make for the second-best place to start, even though it makes ...
| | Legendary Bobby Darin CD (2004)
Powerage
$12.79 In a recording career lasting 17 years, Bobby Darin spent only three of those years, 1962-1965, signed to Capitol Records. They were busy years for him in the recording studio: he released seven Capitol LPs, five of which made the charts, and 11 Capitol singles, eight of which entered the Billboard Hot 100, two of those, the self-written, country-styled "You're the Reason I'm Living" and "18 Yellow Roses," reaching the Top Ten. Still, his relatively brief Capitol sojourn was not as memorable as his two stints at Atlantic Records, 1958-1961 (on the Atco subsidiary) and ...
