The '70's family is confronted with carjackings and pop culture. The popular 70s TV show makes a graceful transition to the big screen in this light-hearted feature that's part parody and part homage. The plot here (about a ruthless land developer who wants to buy the Brady home) is secondary to the playful juxtaposition of the Brady's era with our own. The film dotes on the peculiarities of 70s fashion and lingo with an almost religious fervor. The kids seem as lost in their wide-collared, pastel shirts as they do in their anachronistic moral universe. Marcia, for instance, is oblivious to the come-ons from a lesbian friend and she haughtily informs a date that she doesn't go to "third base." Several members of the original cast make cameo appearances. Filmed in Deluxe and Panavision.

A Billy Joe Shaver album is always cause for celebration, but on this 2007, Grammy-nominated release, the outlaw country troubadour shines in a whole new way. Produced by John Carter Cash, the album features all country-gospel originals, half of them sung in duet with a laundry list of country greats, including the late Johnny Cash, old partner in crime Kris Kristofferson, and Tanya Tucker. Although the Christian-themed lyrics are utterly sincere, fans needn't worry that Shaver has gone soft on them. The music crackles with country-rocking, honky-tonking fire.

Writer/director Tag Purvis's first feature film is an atmospheric and provocative coming of age story set in rural Mississippi. It stars Dan Montgomery and Aleksa Palladino as Griffith and Emily, two adolescent cousins who care for their handicapped Aunt Summer (Black) and spend their days doing chores, romping in the nude, and unabashedly carrying on a tentative sexual relationship. However, their lives change when a handsome stranger named Lee Todd rents a nearby cottage, provoking unexpected romantic and sexual longings in Griffiths. Tantalized by the prospect of romance and escape from his life, Griffith and Lee begin spending most of their time together. Feeling shunned, Emily turns to Aunt Summer for companionship as each of the characters come to grips with the mundane and oppressive way life is lived in their corner of the world.
