Shoot The Moon CD music
$8.15 Pricipally recorded live at The Roxy, Hollywood, California from December 10-12, 1973; the Auditorium Theater, Chicago, Illinois in 1974; Edinboro State College, Edinboro, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1974.
It's no secret that one of the most powerful weapons in Zappa's arsenal was his sense of humor, which was at its height in live performance. Consequently, there's no better way to get a feel for the full scope of Zappa's music than on the live ROXY & ELSEWHERE. This set finds Frank at his mid-'70s peak, working with Ruth Underwood, Don Preston, George Duke, etc. While all the tunes are technically impeccable (often featuring trademark feats of counter-intuitive derring-do), it's Zappa's humorous interaction with ...
| | Sugar Besides CDs (1995)
Shoot The Moon music CDs
$10.39 BESIDES is a compilation of B-sides and live tracks. Included is a hidden CD-ROM track of the video for the song "Gee Angel." Initial pressings include a limited-edition bonus disc, featuring a complete live performance.
Over the course of their first three albums, Sugar released a number of singles, some featuring new studio tracks, some with live versions and covers. BESIDES is an odds-and-ends collection of those tracks. The first three songs, all of which appeared on the band's debut "Helpless" single, are by themselves enough to justify owning this disc.
"Needle Hits E" is one of Bob Mould's finest creations, a glittering pop masterpiece that set the tone for Sugar's career. "If I Can't Change Your Mind" (appearing here in a newer improved version to that on the band's debut), and "Try Again," which bridge the gap between Mould's BLACK SHEETS OF RAIN album and Sugar's subsequent BEASTER record, both compete with glorious peals of feedback. Also noteworthy are the crunching pop splendor of "Going Home," and a live version of "The Slim" even more harrowing than its studio counterpart. Collectors should note that early versions of the CD included a second disc featuring a 68-minute live show recorded in Minneapolis. BESIDES is an essential purchase for Mould fans.
Few bands released as many smokin' B-sides as Sugar, and here are 12 of those songs, plus some of the live versions and solo versions that also appeared on the EPs. If you've never heard such ashen cuts as "Mind Is an Island," "And You Tell Me," the live cover of the Who's "Armenia City in the Sky," and David Barbe's "Anyone," you have them all served up on a single platter for you. It's fair to consider this a fourth Sugar LP, as without a doubt it is commensurate with the quality and greatness of the other three. The first 25,000 or so of this compilation came with a bonus CD recorded on the File Under: Easy Listening tour. ...

| | Gat Eclecticity CD (2009)
Shoot The Moon CD music
$13.15 Don’t let the title of this disc, Eclecticity, and the name of the artist, Gat, fool you. Granted, a variety of musical styles and recording methods are featured on these eleven tracks but fans of Graham Allman-Talbot will have no trouble recognizing elements that are common to Graham’s music – Rickenbacker 12-string chiming riffs aplenty, and a reverence for Roger McGuinn’s and the Byrds’ body of work. The disc includes an outstanding version of the Chris Hillman-penned “Have You Seen Her Face” and the Roger and Camilla McGuinn Irish-inspired folk-rock ballad “May The Road Rise To Meet You.” In fact, it shouldn’t surprise listeners to hear a combination of Graham’s layers-of-guitars solo material as Gat and his jingle-jangle collaborative efforts with Starbyrd on this disc (there is a reference to Starbyrd in the lyrics of “I’m ...
